  1. Yzerman is most definitely on the hot seat. It doesn't feel right to put his name next to those words but we're here. No more excuses.

  2. Raymond is going to be a 100 point player we love the guy. Also Danielson is the next guy up after Mazur. MBN needs some more time in GRR for the North American ice.

  3. Last chance for the Yzerplan. Signings feel meh and Gibson should help, but I don't think it's enough. 6th in the Atlantic with 83-88 points.

  4. All the people who think Yzerman is the on the hot seat or want him fired, who would do a better job and what is your bright idea to do a better job? So tired of all these low iq takes.

  5. Ras being 5th in scoring for us says a lot about how bad we've been. I'm very positive that we'll still be in the hunt come April, whether we make it or not will depend on whether our Blue line gets better. Think MBN has agreed to head back to Sweden for a season. ASP will be in GR but chances are he will get a call up at some point this season. I'm still not convinced that Cossa is the goalie we will need him to be, but he's young so I'm not overly worried. Bergy has to be on the trade radar as he's in his mid 20's now and hasn't lived up to the hype. Let's Go Wings.

  6. I'm just waiting for the inevitable rebuild in about four years. Hopefully Wings will have a new GM by then.

  7. I don't think this is the year we break our duck, unfortunately. If we lose Seider or Edvinsson to injury the blue line looks horrific.

That said if a revamped bottom 6 helps with secondary scoring and we improve that wretched penalty kill we could be in the mix.

We needed a top 6 forward and top 4 defenseman but weren't able to address those needs.

  8. Detroit feels like the most mediocre team in the East rn. They're not good enough to be seen as a playoff team, yet not bad enough to be called truly bad. Truly the worst spot to be in.

  9. Everyone talks about how bad Detroit's defense is, but the facts is that Detroit allowed less 5v5 goals than Carolina last season. BUT the big difference was that Detroit had the worst PK in the league and Carolina had the best. If the PK improves and Gibson is better than Husso and Lyon, Detroit could be an average or better than average defensive team. Detroit is not able to build a team like Toronto or Edmonton because they don't have those superstars, but what they can and what they are trying to do is build a team like Carolina: A two-way team that will wear you down with the physicality and depth.

  10. Raymond – Larkin – DeBrincat
    Berggren – Kasper – Kane
    Soderblom – Copp – Rasmussen
    JVR – Compher – Appleton

    Chiarot – Seider
    Edvinsson – Johansson
    Gustafsson – Bernard Docker

This is what I want to see right now. We don't have clear, superstar choices in some spots. We have to balance things out. Berggren does better when he has better players around him. Chiarot has been used on the top pair by both Lalonde and McLellan for a reason. I want to see what Jacob Bernard-Docker can do better than Holl or Hamonic. And this is all assuming Carter Mazur isn't fully ready for NHL action after injuring himself on his second NHL shift last year, or ASP isn't used to the North American ice yet and needs time in the AHL.

There's tons of potential here. The vets, including Seider and Raymond at this point, should be hungry. The younger guys like Edvinsson and Johansson can still get better. Gibson can earn us a few more points. McLellan can get them playing a better style of hockey than the one Lalonde tried to get them to play for a few seasons. The PK should just be better by virtue of the law of averages. All of these things together could make a huge difference. It's the 100th season, there's all kinds of excitement. It's the perfect time to make the playoffs.

  11. Same as the last few years. Somewhat competitive, inevitable collapse, miss the playoffs, draft 8-12, sign middle of the road guys to filler deals, one move to inspire hope, repeat.

  12. if Wings were still in the west i think they would have made the playoffs by now east is just so tough to get in

  13. Amazing of you to keep putting out videos. Truly hoping all the best for you and your wife. Look forward to her being back healthy in some videos.

  14. I am going to stick with my prediction that the Leafs fall out of playoff contention and Detroit takes the spot

  15. I expect the PK numbers will improve. Their success will definitely depend on who steps up or steps in. Gibson should gove us better goaltending if he stays healthy, and i expect with the first full offseason and training camp under Todd, they have a strong chance to make positive progress.

  16. I definitely think Yzerman isn’t the problem, but are pro scouts are terrible at there job.

I’d fire every single one of them.

Also if we wanna rebuild on the fly we should trade Larkin…

  17. The offseason moves were not enough imo. Bringing in Gibson was fantastic but it was 1 of 3 moves that needed to be made to make this team playoff bound. Stevie keeps putting band aids on the abysmal d-core and we really needed another top 6 winger. He's REALLY banking on ASP, Danielson etc to come in and make an impact but these are gambles. I know there isnt a ton out there and limited things he can do, but its time to be bold and make trades to get this team over the hump.

  18. I think that Detroit will surprise some people this year and compete for a wild card playoff spot. I give them 50-50 odds of making the playoffs. With a full training camp with Todd McClellan, and the acquisition of a legitimate starting goalie, their PK shouldn't be nearly as bad as it was last year. Expect to see growth from Kasper, Raymond, Seider, Edvinsson, and Johansson to push them forward. I think there's a high probability that Nate Danielson breaks into the lineup at 1LW the same way Kasper did last year, and I think he'll be impactful in that role. There's a very good chance that Mazur comes in and shores up bottom-six scoring, which has been a major missing piece for years now. I know the pessimists think that this team isn't capable of taking the next step without a "true superstar" forward or another top 4 defenseman, but I suspect that we'll be quite surprised by how well they do this upcoming season… once they get over their incredibly tough schedule in the first month, of course.

  19. Well I guess will find out if Todd M can stop the annual March collapse or not. Beyond that the division is very tough. Good luck boys.

  20. Do I hope my Wings push their way into the playoffs? Yes. Do I think the team will miss again? Also yes. I wouldn't be mad if we missed again, because once Ekblad, Bennett and Marchand all re-signed in Florida, I knew that we weren't gonna fill any needs in free agency, and trades would be unlikely. Fact is, we're not gonna attract interest without a playoff berth, so if we want to make improvements, it has to be from within.

  21. I've never been so apathetic towards a Wings season as I am now. Gibson's gonna have to be a wall to offset the broken defense. That 70.1% PK was the worst in NHL history since the 82-83 Kings. Also, don't be surprised if they're in a wild card spot and collapse in March again.

  22. Both the Atlantic and the Metro have 3 teams at the bottom that I don't expect to be in serious contention for a wildcard spot. Detroit is one of those teams.

I think the Rangers and Blue Jackets are the teams most likely to make the playoffs after not making the playoffs last season. I wouldn't be too surprised if Greaves has a solid year and helps lead Columbus to a playoff berth. I would be surprised if Talbot and Gibson were good enough to get Detroit into the playoffs. But I do think that Shesterkin and the Rangers are the team most likely to replace one of last season's playoff teams. Of the bottom six that I don't expect to be in serious contention for a wildcard spot, Detroit is the only one that I expect to get to around 80 points. The other five teams I think will be around 75 points or less.

I agree with what Shannon said: "It is tough being mediocre, being almost good enough for the playoffs and not bad enough to get a top four draft pick." That's what I expect from Detroit this season. I don't think they'll even be bottom five in their conference, but I think they'll still be around 10-12 points away from the last wildcard spot.
