We can't afford it. We don't have the Cap and we don't have the assets that aren't protected (NMC's etc.). You need money to get a good goalie. We don't have it. Hopefully the new coach can make an impact but honestly, I'm thinking we have what we have and hopefully it works out.
Based on what's expected of a starter and a backup, Pickard is not your problem. Therefore I expect Edmonton to bring in a PTO or another backup option and put Pickard on waivers. He'll get snagged by another team most likely Calgary or Vegas. I'll be rooting for Pickard no matter what team he plays for.
this year will test the "bad goalie coach" theory, we'll see how stu plays

Peter Aubrey will not be able to do a danm thing with Skinner. He has as much knowledge in the net as a plucked chicken. If anyone thinks otherwise you need your head checked. Ya ya ya they got to the finals but that's it.
Skinner's numbers are bad enough, but there is a metric not shown there, which is likely the sticking point for many fans. The "timing" of the goals he lets in.
Guy was fronting opposing teams, 2 or 3 goal leads, in the first 10 minutes. Or, he was pissing away leads, or even games, in the last 5 minutes.
That, is the key problem I have with Skinner.
Skinner is ok but the Oilers have to be the worst team the first 3 minutes in and that’s just not all on Skinner. Skinner needs to be smarter in net.
I honestly think McDavid will sign in Edmonton for 8 years. McDavid makes such a high wage, any team he goes to will have a defect to accommodate his salary cap.

McDavid can always make a billion dollars and win a cup at the end of his career on a team that is in their prime.
