I don't mean to be rude or pessimistic, but I think any Erik Karlsson speculation is pointless. His contract is so bad, even if the Pens eat half, he still makes 5 million. Far too much for a dude who plays D like it's ball hockey at the rec center.
OEL is the odd man out. Leafs defense only got better when we got Carlo. He's not going anywhere. You think to highly of the Leafs defense. Yes big but prone to fumbling puck. Unless they can get Reilly and his no trade out the door. Leafs ain't trading Cowan or Danford. Exactly the type of players there trying to aquire and with the fusion of young players into lineup. Allows them to continue to chase a cup and add players like McDavid! He's coming home!

Leafs put Jarnkrok on waivers and send him to the Marlies, if they can't even acquire a draft pick for him. Also sign Grzelyck, they need a puck moving defenceman to help the powerplay. They could keep all defenceman without trading Benoit or Carlo and just rotate them in the lineup depending on what the opposition team is.
Ken was originally part of the Bruins organization but they traded him and in Ken's rookie year, Montreal pulled off a huge upset, as Ken eliminated a Bruins team, that finished the regular season 24 points ahead of Montreal and had the top 4 scorers in the league, with Esposito, Orr, Bucyk and Hodge. They also had 7 of the top 11 scorers, broke the NHl record for goals with 399 and if Craig Button was around, he would have picked the Bruins in 2 games 😉
Montrreal scored over 100 fewer goals than Boston and their top scorer, (in his last season) was Jean Beliveau. It was also a passing of the Torch, as Guy Lafleur was just starting his career, along with Ken Dryden.

If the Penguins are going to do what they did in 85, which eventually led to the draft Lottery, I think it's a black eye on the league and there should be a rule, or penalty for pulling that GARBAGE!!

Honestly the oilers might have a better chance at winning a cup with just draisaitl. He is already a number one center on any other team, so losing mcdavid and allowing more cap for better depth (and an actual goalie), theoretically they should do just fine.
I can't see McDavid leaving Edmonton.The American teams want him because the NHL wants to keep the cup in the states.

RIP, Ken Dryden. I used to love the rivalry between My Idol, The Late Great Chicago Black Hawks Goalie, Tony O Esposito & He. The thing is that he did so much in such a short period of time.
