  1. In the early 1970's, Dryden was in a contract dispute. Left to go back to Law school and got his degree. Montreal saw this and realized he was serious. They paid what he was worth. But check it out. I am that old.

  2. Met Ken Dryden in a pub in Oxford, watched a wcf game with him and just talked, such a respectful gentleman and an absolute icon of the game. The thieving giraffe will be missed

  3. Trades up to the trade deadline will be dead.
The flexibility that was there before, with the rule changes, are gone.
    RIP trade deadline trades.

  4. I think the trade deadline deals may go down, but that will be because of the rule changes it makes more sense to do it earlier in the season rather than waiting to build cap room at the deadline.

  5. RIP Ken Dryden. The first 4 Stanley Cups I saw on TV, Ken Dryden was the winning goalie for the Canadiens. Growing up — I hated the Canadiens. They were too good. And they never lost. As a kid, I bought a scholastic book about Ken Dryden. I wanted to try and understand the myth and the mystery behind his invincibility. Over time, I learned to respect that talented team, their unbelievable accomplishments, and their incredible legacy. #RIPKenDryden #HockeyLegend … He was truly a national treasure.

  6. RIP Ken Dryden.
"Nothing is as good as it used to be, and it never was. The “golden age of sports,” the golden age of anything, is the age of everyone’s childhood."
~ Ken Dryden (from his book "The Game")

  7. The Price trade also helps the Sharks maintain the cap floor if they want to move a higher priced player such as Ferarro.

  8. "Capologists"… 🤣…Hey. Remember to take their straightjackets off this time so they can punch their calculators and write stuff that nobody else understands down on paper…

  9. You're one hundred percent wrong with the carry price contract.San jose bought a fifth round pick from montreal for 800 000

  10. if theres any hard feelings between darch and dobson is completely irrelevant lmfao tf are you talking about

  11. RIP Ken Dryden🥅
At 17, had the opportunity to see him play Bruins 🐻 in SCF back in ‘78 (old Boston Garden). What a game—he and Cheevers both had great saves between the pipes. The fights between Jonathan/Bouchard, Wensink/Gilles Lupien and Schmautz’ OT goal. Was sitting opposite end of Garden when he scored against Dryden.

    RIP Ken Dryden 🥅

  12. So do the CBA changes mean that the whole idea of “only the portion of a player’s cap hit that counts against the cap comes from the fraction of the games that player played” is now gone?

  13. My heartfelt condolences to the Dryden family. A great man, a great Canadian, a great politician, a great statesman, a great humanitarian, a great leader, a great hockey player. The only player to win a Stanley Cup and follow it up the very next season with a Rookie of the year award.

  14. with teams having cap room, more than in recent years, i see trades still, even without double salary retention, bit i definitely think waiver claims will be more frequent.

  15. Ken Dryden was part of the reason I went to Cornell and all of the reason I wore #29 when I played (not for Cornell, I wasn’t that good). Another one of my heroes gone.

  16. RIP 29. i was there when they finally retired his jersey. he was such a icon. he waited 27 years for it. everyone who was there knew it was well deserved.

  17. Maybe our genius GM will trade McT to Philly too. Oh wait, they don’t have anymore 4th liners for Patty to get back. What a FN moron.

  18. Imagine telling someone in 2015 that the common consensus was the Sharks didn’t get enough in a trade where they got Carey Price.

  19. Hail and farewell, Ken Dryden. I was a wee lad of a hockey fan at the time so I may not remember it correctly, but my impression is that the Habs felt they could afford to trade Rogie Vachon to the Kings because, well, he was just going to backup Dryden for… indefinitely. As a Kings fan, I have always been grateful for that.

  20. When we hear about so many bad apples in the NHL, it's a comfort to remember that there were gentlemen like Ken Dryden. He was the star goalie of the team that defined what the term 'dynasty' means in the NHL that you can see commemorated in the Montreal Forum dressing room exhibit in the Hockey Hall of Fame.

  21. Now that I think about it, with réflexion. The Isles made it out "like bandits" from this draft. Of course the 1st OA. But then Eklund and Aetcheson. Of course it cost them Dobson, but he wanted out anyway. So considering, not half bad. And Daniil Prokhorov in the 2nd Round. High Potential guy hyped by Grant McCag!

  22. I wouldn't be surprised if the next time SJS and MTL do a trade it looks good for the sharks. Habs definitely looked good on this one.

    RIP Ken Dryden

  23. If i was montreal i would trade for Mctavish he speaks french too trade dach, mattison, beck, picks do it

  24. Did you say "… the whole contract comes off…" with respect to a player being on LTIR for the entire season and playoffs???

That's not how LTIR works. The entire cap hit remains on the team's salary. LTIR (there is no such thing actually) means that a team can exceed the salary cap by the amount of the players cap hit less the teams cap space.
