Maybe if Shane Doan had stuck around and fought for the team he could’ve prevented their departure? I’m probably wrong but I wish he would have stayed. Now the Mammoth have moved on from his son Josh who was traded to the Buffalo Sabres organization.

Honestly, i would love for Arizona to bring back the Coyotes. It was really cruel for what the fans had to go through for losing their team. The problem with the Coyotes was never the lack of fanbase or the market itself, it was on bad ownership, and a hockey specific arena is why hockey failed in Arizona. Hockey isn't the same without the Coyotes, and I'm all for the group that is trying to make a return
I was 11 when The Colts left Baltimore. That was the end of my innocence. I saw Baltimore's then mayor, Donald Schafer, on TV. He acted like a close relative had died. I have never forgotten that.

Houston might be a great place for hockey and a Quebec Nordiques return would be cool, but they have to contend with the financial differences of the two countries. Plus all the political upheaval in Canada currently.
I do believe that Phoenix deserves another team. A downtown arena made for NHL hockey, close to transit, a nearby entertainment district, ample parking, a good product on the ice and community initiatives are all you need for the NHL's success in Arizona.

The state land for the new arena has been been purchased by a private developer with ties to NCAA & NHL hockey, building new ice arenas and the Arizona Coyotes. The City of Phoenix approved the sale of the state land. The Coyotes & likely Atlanta will making their big come back in 2028 !!
As a former Coyotes fan, who lives in Phoenix I can honestly say that it was not the fans fault the team moved, the Coyotes had a passionate fan base that just got screwed by the ownership not caring about the team. I really hope we are able to get the Coyotes back sooner rather than later and that when they come back, they will have ownership that actually cares enough. Hockey Belongs in the Desert🌵🏜☀🏒

Raliegh/Durham has the Carolina Hurricanes. The Tidewater Metropolitian area which is in Sotheastern Virginia which consists of Norfolk,Virginia B ea h,Portsmouth, Chesapeake,Newport News,Hampton,Suffolk & other towns which has far more people, but the NHL snubbs the Tidewater Metropolitian area.

I want my Yotes back. Brodie, years ago I wrongly commented on many videos of yours saying "NO WAY the NHL would give up the Phoenix market". But Meruelo was the X factor I did not give enough credence to how much damage one man could do. He bungled the vote in Tempe so impressively, it is worthy of study at ASU. Very soon, he will uproot the Tucson Roadrunners and will have single-handedly destroyed non-NCAA hockey in the state of Arizona. NHL ownership made the correct play to force him to sell, and in his failure, left the brand washed of his taint. When the NHL returns to Phoenix, it can NOT be named anything but the Coyotes. I put countless years into defending my team who only hung Pacific Division Champions 2011-2012 banner from the rafters. While the product on the ice was bad, I created such amazing bonds with die hard fans who season in and season out rooted for and supported the players on ice… even if the front office was a dumpster fire. The Coyotes is more than just a sports team brand, to me its a representation of resilience….ice hockey in the hottest metro in North America… in Arizona sports ( notoriously a rough market to support, bordering on masochism sometimes.)…and in the face of countless naysayers who say we never deserved a team to begin with. Needless to say, best sweaters in the game. While I am of little help on the liquidity front and therefore not a deep pocket owner….I can and will volunteer my time to NHLtoAZ to get my Coyotes back.
"Phoenix Coyotes" rolls off the tongue much better than "Arizona Coyotes". Just stating the truth, which also happens to apply to the Arizona Cardinals. You'd think Phoenix was the size of Newark.

Meruelo definitely treated the Coyotes like a real estate property he was trying to flip for a profit. I hope the NHL does a far better job vetting to ensure that there isn't a repeat scenario if PHX gets a new franchise.
As a state I dont know if you guys really deserve a team. You guys were an issue for like a decade financially and locally playing in a tiny little arena. There may be some passion there, but not enough. If you can clearly say Atlanta is a stupid idea AGAIN. . . There is no way with a straight face you can say it would work in Arizona.

I don’t think the Coyotes should return. The NHL already has enough teams. That being said, if the prospective Coyotes owners are willing to fund a new stadium using their own money, I say go for it. But no taxpayer money should be used towards stadium construction costs.
Maybe Is a better idea having a smaller side-league Situation like Is trying NFL to UFL rather that growth to 36, 40 and Beyond teams
