So much pressure for any goaltender there. Oilers not known for defence. Other netminders who got shuffled out of there went on to good careers.

So glad the Avs made the move for Blackwood and Wedgewood last season. Honestly, Wedgewood would be a better starter than Skinner… idk why the Oilers haven’t done anything about their goalie situation. Besides the fact that Drai, McDavid, Nurse, and Bouchard all have large contracts
I saw a guy score a goal while he was sitting on the bench. The KC Scouts were an expansion team back in the 70's and boy were they godawful. Well this guy(nope, don't recall who) for the Blackhawks was skating to the bench for a line change so he sloooooowly backhands the puck into the Scouts zone, the puck is just creeping along toward the goal, no one even inside the blue line since everyone is changing up. So, the goalie goes to sweep the puck to the corner and of course he whiffs, puck goes through his legs and in. 😔 that team was tough to watch.
The D man messed that up he confused Skinner .The last two seasons people been complaining about the goalies then all they do is go on a long great run and get EDM to the finals in back to back years.Calagary goalie was on his knees more than his skates EDM just needed to get more shots elevated to run up the score.
No doubt the Oilers have a new,younger look and seem a little faster and eager. It is only the first game and no need to press the panic button just yet. Opening day, there are usually some unpredictable results and again is true for this year. Long season.
The fact Edmonton didn’t upgrade their goaltending is a sin against the human race.

It doesn't matter. He will be there, as he was the last two years, when it counts. You can't blame Skinner for the losses against Florida. He played well. You have to blame the Florida Panthers. They were the better team. There were a couple of bad goals last night against Skinner, but it's the start of the season. He'll be there when it counts. Also, the above goal is also the defenceman's fault. I like Pickard too.
