TBH, I am upset that Hughes wants to leave us and play with his brothers. "Disloyal" is the word. But if I am his friend, how can I bring myself to ask him to stay here? Dude, get out of this mess ASAP! It hurts. 😭
My only hope now is if we can pull off a 3 way trade to bring Bedard here, as we trade away Hughes to NJ. Since Bedard grew up a diehard Canucks fan, he will hopefully be "loyal" and stay with us 3 or 4 years until we can finish our small rebuild, and become competitive again. Who else will play for this mess we got in Vancouver? That fact that we don't have a legit 1st line tells you no one wants to play here.
What 1st line caliber guys we even have to partner with EP40? We got no one bro! Boeser and DeBrusk are great as 2nd line 0.6-0.8 PPG guys, but they simply aren't 1.0-1.2 PPG 1st line players. Sorry they just aren't that level.

If the Canucks are going to have any chance of winning with their new system , play Thatcher Demko every game except back to backs . Maybe even the first back to back Demko and Sherwood are the strong leaders on the team right now , in the short term they must be out there . At some point the rest of the team will rise up and play the way they were taught in practice and pre season .

EP40 is picking up where he left off last year. For a 1st line centre, he needs to control play. His possession numbers must be deplorable. He can not control play like any other 1st line centre does in the league. He is a support player at best, not your star player the team needs to rely upon to score. I will give him one thing, he has not been falling down as much as years gone by!!

I said during the off season that if we had a bad start that at maybe the 20 game mark the Canucks would fire the coach and promote their AHL coach to run the big club. At this point I’m not sure that’s going to make much of a difference & the Canucks might be forced to start their rebuild by trading Hughes.
The Canucks are mediocre. This is no secret, they signed a bunch of inconsistent players to long term contracts hoping they would get better, and they still need to acquire more good players to build a core around. Relax, and just accept the ride that you chose as a fan, or if you get mad, get mad at the team's PR for selling you this team as a good one.
