I just checked and Matthews only got 50+ goals twice in 9 years. Hes more a 30-40 goals scorer. Which is not bad but yeah hes not the super goal scorer people think he is

I feel like Matthews is one of the most overrated players we've seen in a while
This is not even about Marner really, for instance in this game they absolutely dominated the game on the shot department and Matthews got so many fucking grade A chances but he could not bury a single one of them. Also the big players in this team are letting them down not the new guys and lets not act like this same shit didn´t happen with Marner where they looked dominating and they kept dropping games to underdogs. Now if this becomes a trend and they still look like this by the midway of the season then im ready to put a lot more of the blame on the Marner trade but for now Matthews can´t score no matter how many perfect passes he gets and the veterans on this team like Nylander look unmotivated so you can find the issues there. Also Marner in Vegas has a record of 1 OT win and 2 OT losses which actually should be 0 win:s and 2 OT losses because Sharks gifted that win for them. So thinking that this is all because of the Marner trade is just straight up idiotic.
