  1. imho Quick's contract is the worst, simply by being "untradable"… but yeah, they have mostly good contracts and look promising for the future (which I don't really like, as a Ducks fan haha)

  2. Hutton and Lewis could stay(50/50),
Walker had a good year but their best D-man this season has been Matt Roy, the guy does everything and goes relatively unnoticed I'd personally prefer him to Makar or Hughesn

The Kings prospect pool is deep, really, really deep think about this with all those players on the board you still forgot Mikey Anderson,Kaliyev, and Tyler Madden all 3 could be with the big club.
Mark Yanneti and the scouting staff in LA are fantastic i mean there is a real good opportunity that every 4th rd pick the Kings have made during Blakes tenure as GM could be in the NHL (Mikey Anderson,Markus Phillips,Aiden Dudas,Kim Nousianen, and Jordan Spence of which only Spence hasn't been in a WJC but probably will next season)
Oh Have I mentioned Matt Roy the guy is an awesome player

  3. Mikey Anderson is going to make the Kings long before Durzi, and Kaliyev is another prospect with an outside shot at a roster spot.

  4. Honorable mentions that could easily be on the prospects list:

Arthur Kaliyev – slipped to the second round because of work ethic(?), that didn't stop him from scoring goals like an absolute maniac this year
Mikey Anderson – "the next captian" this kid looks like a baby and talks like a veteran, fit right in during his stint this year
Samuel Fagemo – no name swedish player who… led the WJC in scoring this year. More than hoglander and lafreniere
Tyler Madden – too soon to judge well but seems to be skilled player only getting better with age

  5. That $60 million spend next year includes a $4,000,000 buyout for Phanuef and Kovulchuck's salary as well. They have room to buy a real blue chip asset at Free agency time too.

Yeah I'd buy shares in the LA Kings too. Strong position to be in.

  6. Plus the kings have kaliyev as a prospect I thought the flames should have drafted kaliyev over pelletier.

  7. Prokhorkin could be really good with the right linemates and more ice time. Yes, he got in the coach's doghouse. I think the lack of time playing smaller North American rinks was part of it. He's used to taking the puck and moving around those big slabs of ice.

  8. Been a Kings fan my entire life and I hate Rob Blake. I have to admit that he has done great job retooling this team. I was worried about some of the moves he was making but reloaded it was the fan in me that was upset to lose guys that won the cup. Fellow kings fans will understand what I mean. We suffered for a long time and didn’t want to lose the guys that brought the Cup to LA.

  9. Honestly when I watched the kings play quick was good but his numbers didn’t show it

  10. Almost two years scraping the bottom, finally get things straightened out, become the hottest team in the League, had a giant home-friendly schedule ahead of them…and then the plug gets pulled. Sigh.

(Okay, I'm more disappointed for the Clippers, but still.)

The four guys who are headed for the rafters (Kopitar, Doughty, Brown, Quick) are probably not going anywhere. No problem. Obviously Carter is a problem, but it would take an effort to move him. And even if he isn't home-grown, he might make the rafters, too, so there's some sentiment even there.

Remember, the Muzzin trade was Grundstrom, Durzi AND the pick that became Björnfot. Still not anyone at Jake's level, but lots of potential.

  11. I know you mentioned Kupari… He had bad luck in both hitting crossbars and on the injury side… Catch 22 on both ends you can say…

  12. I kupari did not have a good beginning of the season in his first year in North America but he did get hurt at the world juniors this year with a really bad knee injury that required him to have surgery and be shelved for the the rest of his entire 2019-20 season. So who know what would have happened to him if he didn't get hurt. He probably could have gotten better has the season went on like kale clauge last year

  13. There are some young kids that didn't get mentioned like Kaliyev and Fagemo, but, Mike Anderson really excites me. He came in and looked great. I am very excited to see what that kid is going to be for this team. Kings somehow picked up some really intriguing pieces, if they can get lucky in this draft and score an elite player, what a turn around.

  14. It's funny how everybody was ripping Blake as a GM last year so quickly as he was fixing Lombardi's crazy contracts after the last cup win…

  15. Oh boy- If Lafreniere or Byfield landed on King's Lap, barring any major disaster LAK will be scary good in less than 4 years. Yikes!🤴😂

  16. Thanks 🙏 for the positive review of Los Angeles because I was not expecting that but I must admit that you can start seeing the light 💡 at the end of the tunnel. The mass rebuild by GM Dean Lombardi was very painful and long. But the end results were a mini dynasty 👑because he stripped it all the way down.

  17. Doughty is a keeper. Would love to trade Kopi and Carter. Great players but bad contracts. Love watching the 2012 and 2014 SC games on youtube!

  18. Love the analysis. Did you do an update now that we know they’ll end up with one of Byfield/stutzle/drysdale?

  19. You are going to need another white board when you add these prospects: Byfield, Grans, Faber, Fagemo, Kaliyev, Madden, Chromiak, Simontiaval, Grundstrom, Parik, Ingham etc.. The amount of assets is pretty remarkable. I see the Kings as one of the better teams in the West within 3 years.
