Yeah, Knoblauch SHOULD be on thin ice. Skinner too. I am totally aware it's just a pre-season game. But frankly, I've seen the last two seasons in fast-forward last night. Oilers have the big-guns, we dominate, we have multiple 2-on-1 and 3-on-1 and miss even the first pass to get it through, right after opponents score, because Skinner is unable to 'hold an important one'. I am very aware Skinner held a few hard ones, but overall, he is an under-average goalie, will never HOLD A CUP. As long as management and 'drunk-on-water' Oilers (Supporters and Media alike), choose to support Skinner to a fault, we run the high risk of a 3rd failed cup-run with Skinner and high-chance also for McDavid to 'run-away'. Skinner needs to go! He doesn't have what it takes to succeed in the NHL, regardless how many times 'he takes us to the final', his psyche is not built to win, his stressful eye-movements before the game, his weak lateral moves, his complete lack of awareness where the puck is, particularly side-ways and behind the net, his puck stops that ALWAYS land 'served' to the striker next to him who scores on empty net, his inability to handle the puck and do clean exits (D'Accord looked last night like Lionel Messi in contrast to Skinner, when handling the puck).. Outrageously ridiculous how some media (Oilnation, Bob-Stauffer, etc.) in Edmonton support the insane idea, that Skinner may be our Canada Olympic Team goalie! Yeah, if we want the Canada Team to watch the final on TV, then make Skinner the goalie!

Lacklustre game and nothing stood out to say the team was looking better than last 2 years, in fact just getting worse. Skinner still looking shaky and shit the bed. Like someone here posted, trade McDavid since he's also go missing like in last 2 finals when he needed to come in clutch. He might be the best player in NHL but like Hellebuyck that's good in regular but no show during playoffs. Just look at his stats during playoffs. Not a popular opinion but saying what I'm seeing.

Tomasek I like to play the wing with Dras. They play similar and same speed. It would be interesting on the cycle especially pod creating havoc pressuring the puck for turnovers on the forecheck and going to the net. Both have really good shots.

Howard goes to the ahl for a bit to work on the play away from the puck and board work. He will see all situations and get minutes in the ahl to develop his overall game. Could only take 20-45 AHL games before he becomes an nhl player. Has the one shot scorer. Reminds left handed version of phil kessel.
Quinn huston reminds of pisani detail player and good positioning . Does the little things well. See how well he does in the ahl.

and yes, not all was bad: almost all new acquisitions were good to very good in the pre-season: epecially Atro Läppanen, Tomasek, Howard, Hutson, etc. Also every goalie we had in the net, played better than Skinner: Jonson, Day, Tomkins. MINUSES: Frederic showed nothing, Henrique shows way less than Tomasek. Janmark unable to score alone on goalie, unable to pass on 3-on-1…
I'm not interested in hearing about anything other than the rookies and fringe guys, after preseason games.
If one of the vets does something notable, sure, mention it. But other than that, this is just warm-up shit. Trying some stuff out.

We had zero injuries so that’s already a win. Honestly Seattle played like this game was their Stanley cup, while we were going for a skate.

Everyone was excited to see Savoi and Howard get playtime on top 2 lines with McD and Drai.
Yet Knoblock chooses Fredric despite all the points you mention (and for the record, this is still the guy who could not hit the backside of a barn in playoffs)
Then again, when has Knobs ever done the obvious thing (if last season is any indication it won't be until playoffs until he engages in logical decision making and sensible roster arrangements)
Maybe he was warned about not destroying & wasting another traded-for asset like how he did to Jeff Skinner – so this is his way of making ammends? Ie- brown-nosing Bowman here in contract year for that extension – since we know Bowman obviously loves Fredric to give him such a huge contract despite poor play in the playoffs (and availability of other bottom 6 players like him, including those in our prospect pool)

2. They haven't played a NHL game since Game 6
3. Their give a fuck meter was probably at like 10%

Whilst I agree on Trent having played not particularly well last night, this was 1 game and a pre-season one at that. It really does not matter. What matters is they have something to work on and that all games that count are still to come. IF we do NOT get off to a bad start, no-one will remember it even if we win all remaining pre-season games 10-1
On the other hand, those odd man rush plays yesterday were SO bad…. Not even a shot on goal, that was the most frustrating bit.

How many years have we heard that management is trying to find wingers for McDavid and Draisaitl? And, yet in preseason and training camp, you play them together instead of trying different players with them. I don't get playing the nuclear option when you're trying to put together a TEAM to go back to the SC playoffs.
