  1. If the Canucks wanted an upgrade from Boeser, would you go after pending UFA Adrian Kempe? The Kings are trailing and Kempe is a high performer. Boeser could help fetch Barzal but Barzal is a playmaker and Boeser is a finisher so the Canucks will lack more goalscorers. One of the big fish high scoring winger RFAs is Jason Robertson but trading for his rights likely mean we must give another asset. I personally would keep Boeser.

  2. I don't like the 4pm start time at home per se. However, in years past the 4 o clock start time was only for Toronto which was the true piss off. If it's all Eastern teams I wouldn't like it but could accept it as the way it is. Although this year it looks like the central division has early starts in Vancouver

  3. Tough one to watch because just about nothing worked. Chemistry, deployment, effort, goaltending, power play, penalties, and it’s mostly because we are missing half our lineup 7 games into the season. Brutal luck so far. The Chytil situation especially sucks as he’s been one of our best forwards and was able to make sense of our top six by being good with DeBrusk and Boeser. I genuinely think he was underrated despite the goals, the team needs his speed and play driving. I wish the hockey gods would give this guy a chance man…

  4. While the Canucks have performed better than I thought they might on this road trip, losing to the very Penguins’ team of which Canucks’ GM Allvin and President Rutherford were once execs, by a country mile, undoubtedly hurts. During the rest of this month, the Canucks will either be playing against Western Conference opponents or at home, with:
    – November to feature 3 and 11 games in Eastern (EC) and Western Conference (WC) arenas -> 11 games left, before this coming postseason, to be played in EC arenas
    – December to feature 5 and 8 respective games to be played in EC and WC arenas -> 6 games after that month, but before this coming postseason, left to be played in EC arenas
    – January to feature 6 and 10 respective games to be played in EC and WC arenas -> no game left after that month, but before the next Stanley Cup final, to be played in an Eastern Conference arena

Of 75 games Canucks have left to play before this coming season, 14 will be in EC arenas -> 28 standings points up for grabs among teams based in the Eastern Time zone. Those points in EC arenas will be important for the Canucks although they are just a single standings point away from tying the 3 earned, in regular-season play against teams in the opposing conference, by the 2014–15 Leafs (1–12–1–0 win-regulation loss-OT loss-shootout loss record over 14 relevant games) and 2023–24 Sens (1–14–1–0 record over 16 games). It’s hard to qualify for playoff action with such abysmal records in away games in arenas of the opposite conference, and not surprisingly neither Ontario NHL team came remotely close to qualifying for a playoff spot during the relevant season, with the:
    – 2014–15 Leafs, with 68 standings points, having finished 30 out of a playoff spot
    – 2023–24 Sens, with 78 standings points, having ended up 13 out of a playoff spot
