   Sheafer doesn't have anything to do with it
   The islanders are lucky with him
   They still in the middle
   A team not good enough to be great
   Not bad enough to get a bottom pick

   I think there's a loser in this trade, the Saint Louis Blues. M. Darche prefers E. Heineman to L. Mailloux or O. Beck. Then K. Hughes exchanges L. Mailloux vs Z. Bolduc (same profil than E. Heineman). Montreal and Isles upgrade their roster, not the Blues.

    Isles fan here- the "Dobson" trade was not a trade it was ABSOLUTE rebuke of him wanting money he didn't earn!!! I would've been pissed giving him 7.5 over 8 yrs, 9.5 is gross and undeserved. (Cal Clutterbuck on a podcast, filmed before the trade, said Dobson MIGHT be worth 7/per)

    Heineman is younger, scores more and probably plays better defense too.

    Dobson is on pace (albeit early in the year) for 39 points. Heineman is on pace for 50 goals (but lets be real, if he scores 30 that's a HUGE year for him, 10 goals is the most he scored so far)

    In any case…..we do not miss Dobson AT ALL!!!!

    Watching Dobson a lot with the Islanders, he is a good player, but not what they hoped he would be which was a #1. He's more a #2, which is what the Canadiens wanted because they already have Hutson. Ths Islanders didn't want to pay #1 money for a #2 D, which was why the two sides were never gonna be able to get together on a deal so a trade was the best thing for both team and player if the Islanders could get back good value, which I think they did. No hard feelings on either side and it looks like it should work out for everybody.

    I think this is a Forberg traded situation. It’s gonna seem alright for now but I think later it’s gonna be a MASSIVE steal for NYI because even though Dobson is playing really good Montreal 100% Overpayed. He’s not worth 1 first rounder even less two. He’s a great player but I think Defense should prioritize defense and not scoring.

    What you gotta consider with this trade is this : Islanders were OK with going forward with it because they had Shaeffer and needed to add prospects to their pool and Montreal already had a ton of prospect AND that trade allowed them to trade Mailloux and get Bolduc. Nice to see that both teams got what they wanted!

    A little bias bruh. You guys are paying 9.5 million for a soft defenseman and you all know it. The fact that the Habs have Hudson on first power play says it all. Dobson doesn’t play to his size and he can’t run a power play. 9.5 million and he can’t even win a battle or pinch at the appropriate time. The Habs made a huge mistake first bye trading all their picks and then handing over a fan favorite Emil Heinerman. Islanders got the 2nd best defenseman in the draft and he isn’t soft. Don’t you think the Habs can use some toughness in a year or so? Let’s not forget Eklund who was projected in your draft to go in the top 10 and has been seen as low as being picked 6th overall. This is a lopsided deal and islanders stole it. 9.5 million for a player the Habs didn’t even need. Just wow. Thank you all for the trade. Do you guys want to make another deal? We can send over JG for a player and your first rounder for 2026. JG has bigger balls than Dobson ever will.

    Long term the Islanders will have the advantage. Short term the Habs have the edge.

    Heinemen had 10 goals with montreal and then was hit by a car. It screwed up his year.

    another important thing to note is that the habs traded mailloux for bolduc, who arguably has better upside than heineman, but we all knew emil was goatedd
