Bouchard really is the gift that keeps on giving — just not always in the way you’d hope 😭. Those turnovers are brutal lately. Love his upside, but man, he’s gotta tighten up those puck decisions soon. Do you think it’s just a rough stretch or something deeper?
Freeze at 1:53. Bouch giving up inside position. Ekholm screening Pickard. Draisaitl in no man's land after a piss poor effort to stop the puck retrieval that led to this. Roslovic with no urgency. The Oilers let off the gas pedal completely in the 3rd and this goal really sums up the effort overall.

Bouchard is the greatest defenseman in the league. That's what Oilers fans have been telling the rest of NHL fans for the past three seasons. Our eyes were lying to us, and still are, according to the Oilers faithful.

The Oilers are a great example of the delusional Canadian problem of hero worship hockey management. The fact that Bouchard and Nurse are still their top defensive pair, Skinner is their goalie and the talent level on the roster after two players falls off a cliff tells the story. They are the definition of insanity.

As a Sabre fan let me tell you what we’ve been forced to accept. Missing the playoffs for a decade and a half. Having your best young players force their way out at the first opportunity. Being unable to use free agency at all. Being unable to trade for 1/3 of all players bc of movement clauses.
