This is maybe the least fun leafs team to watch in my entire life, including the pre-matthews era.
Whatever you thought of the leafs the last few years of playoff losses at least they felt like a skilled, smart and well-coached team. They had different ways of playing, they outshot opponents regularly and had great defense (which could actually pass the puck out of the zone)
Berube is not the guy. Dump and chase hockey is brutal to watch. They play like a meat head, slow, stupid team now. You cant get outshot 2-1 every night and expect to have good results. The defense is the worst ive seen in years. This just isnt fun to watch, its a chose to tune into this team this year. Berube needs to go at some point this year and bring in like DeBoer for the love of god.
The team is missing a goalie and a defense that is worldclass.
You can exchange Matthews/Nylander with Draisaitl/McDavid and it makes NO DIFFERENCE.
Nylander is the star. Matthews as well. The rest are not contenders. Period.
