How long have I been saying bring up a few Marlies guys and here we are…too slow, out hit, out shot, out scored bad positioning, breakaway s given up 4 on 1s etc etc etc this team stinks defensively it's nothing new, at least the Marlies guys will listen and have speed…this team stinks period.

Personally I think Mathews may of checked on the leafs when he didn’t return for the 3rd period of the 2024 playoffs when
speed wins, I see 25 to 28 year olds, without end, no let up,,, then I see on Toronto, 30 to 35 year olds, getting older,, just life, talent in age does not defeat youth, with energy and wanting to make money,,, either way,,, stay around 500, stay in the dance, get guys back, they will be ok

Here's what I'd ask:
Captain Nostrils lost the faceoff by the Blueline and immediately headed up ice while the Canes had possession….how far is his head up his ass and is he running out of air?
Usually it takes 20 games in to know what you've really got as a team. They played 5 decent periods against Pitt & Utah, then reverted to the disconnected crap show we all saw vs Boston & Carolina. These guys are NHL pros, yet they are turning the puck over in all zones, but worst of all in the D-zone. I have lost count in those 2 games the number of times the puck is on the stick of a Leaf in the D-zone & they fail to get a clear, turning it over followed by a clown show of inept coverage in their own zone.
Whatever systems have been implemented by the coaching staff, the players seem unable or unwilling to execute them. It is astounding. There is tons of blame to go around, but the one question I have, is why the hell Domi is still a regular in the lineup? I'm not a 'be all believer' in +/-, but Domi is -10 through 16 games. He is a legit liability in the D-zone & next-to-useless everywhere else. His dog crap play has led to too many critical goals against. I do not understand how you can play in the NHL for 9 seasons & still have not clue what to do in your own zone.
Let’s play Matthews, Tavares, Nylander, Knies, McMann and the Marlies next game.

The Problem is the D-Zone play. The D are turning pucks over and not clearing the front of the net. Guys with big contracts on D have to sit in the press box for a few games.

it's the same D as last year, they were good defensively last year, they suck defensively this year. They did change their defensive coach though…time for a new one this guy isn't it.

The only meeting they should have is with Berube, Tree and Pelley to make even more significant changes. They need to have serious conversations about moving out core players who don't have the heart and passion. If you can acquire draft picks/prospects to change the identity so be it. Enough is enough

As a leafs fan there no defensive structure in this team. We need to play better for Bobby mcman to be the only player playing d does not say a whole lot cheif you got to start benching players who are not gonna play a full 60 minutes
