Best way to kill a team is to give everyone a no-move clause. That way everyone gets to leave for nothing. Marner first. Mathews and Nylander next..
There is a cancer in that dressing room. Mitch was likely a part of it, but he wasn't the only one. Nylander doesn't seemingly care about anything, and Matthews is perpetually injured and should never have been made captain. It is time to cut bait with these guys and frankly has been for a while. Getting rid of Morgan may help but it doesn't do anything to impact the problems in the room.
After watching the Blue Jays show an entire nation what a "team" really is, I don't know how anyone can sit and watch these Leafs with any sort of love or passion.
"is this a coaching problem" how many different coaches must these star players go through before we ask whether it's a problem with Matthews & Nylander?

The only way to “fix it” is to start a full rebuild. The Core-Four era has proven to be a failed experiment. It may be a good thing that they’re having this bad season so they can finally give up on the hope. Just accept defeat and move forward. – from a Leafs fan.
Teliving is the problem. He left Calgary in a mess. He blew last year's trade deadline. If he is desperate now he will make more errors. He needs to have trading authority taken away and a replacement search started immediately; the reason Berube has direct accest to the Pelly is because he is not fully trusted.. If he is not trusted he should not be making decisions.
We're 4th in goals scored, but last in goals allowed, we're down 5 players right now, it's early, lets see where we are in a month.
Was Treliving a winner in Calgary? Nope, but Shanny, who hired loser Dubas, hired him. Berube, won a cup with a hot 4th string goalie, then the team sucked for years and he got fired. But leafs hired him. Retreads. Leafs best team had core 4, Hyman, Kadri. Dubas screwed that up, and now look at roster. 6,7 useless forwards, goalie who cant stop a beachball, and 2 to 3 horrible defensemen. Anyone that expects this to be more than a 500 club are delusional.
Need to rip that " C " off 34's jersey and give it to someone who deserves it.
Steve, the problem with making hockey trades, is the Leafs are not in a position of leverage. The Leafs dont exactly have a ton of guys who other teams would want, at least not for anything significant in return, and everyone knows the Leafs are quickly entering desperation mode. They have gone all in for the last 5 seasons, and have very little left in terms of prospects or picks. It's either try to tweak the team and HOPE for enough of a result that they can compete, but that is becoming more and more of a long shot as the season goes on. Or just become sellers, get picks and prospects, and accept that the next few years are going to be tough. If done correctly, it can be done in 3 or 4 years, but if they keep trying to make hockey trades, this team will be doomed to just hope to make it to the playoffs every year, but most likely won't, or will be bounced in the first round. The window of being a true contender is all but closed.
