A fractured jaw can sometimes be managed non-surgically. However, when the jawbone is fractured into multiple pieces and/or there is significant trauma to the teeth, those injuries are much more severe and surgical treatment is almost always necessary.
It’s a long recovery process after this surgery, complicated by not just pain and swelling, but also risk of malnutrition. I anticipate McAvoy is going to be absent for 2-3 months, or possibly longer.

32:40 I absolutely agree. The Bruins are in a multiyear rebuild phase, right now. Trading away first round picks midseason is a shortsighted and high-risk, low-yield move, currently, especially if hypothetical trade returns are pending UFA skaters.
I know Bruins fans love playoff hockey, and we have been spoiled by how consistently the B’s qualify for the postseason during the last 15 years. However, even with the entire Atlantic Division performing in a very mediocre way during the first quarter of this current season, Sweeney & Neely need to stay committed to making the four 1st round picks they have upcoming in 2026 & 2027.
