Unfortunately, this team is Mid. They've played well defensively and have good goaltending, but they look old and slow and can't seem to finish. They should move on from Panarin and Zibanijad if they can. They should also retool scouting and player development. Whiffing on high first-rounders like Lafreniere, Kaako, Kravstov, and Lias Anderson has set them back for years to come.

One or two players do not make a TEAM. Yes, Sullivan & Drury are the problem because they stubbornly play guys that shouldn't even be on the team FFS! It's a two line team because the third line is contributing nothing offensively. And the fourth line has deteriorated since Rempe went out. As for the D it really deteriorated when Borgen got injured from lack of depth. They need to play the youth & finally they called Berard up. He never should have been cut! If he makes one mistake he probably goes down again. Remember the line of Cullye-Laba Lafreniere. Played great but broken up quickly. Are you playing Mika at center or on the wing? Make up your FN mind Sullivan! Move Edstrom up in the lineup for now. Never happens! Play him with Mika & Miller. Miller is a center, not a wing. Put Berard with Panarin & Troch. Send Sheary & Parsinnen to the AHL. This is a transition year, so I really don't care if the Rangers make the playoffs. Developing the young prospects is paramount. That may even help the team make the playoffs. If not these players get valuable experience for next year. They will also make the team faster.
If you wanna get off of contracts like Panarin's and Miller's, you demote them to the third line. There pride will not allow that to stand, which could in turn have them, demand a trade. That would honestly, be best for both sides at this point. "If" Mkia ever does waive his NMC, which I don't think he will. Even if he did, he only wants to play for an east coast team and will veto all other trade options.
