Longest tender Met is now Gone, and probably Acuna, Mcneil and Jett Williams. Alao we only have 1 outfielder right now
2 players who have had injury issues traded for each other. Nimmo is 2+ years younger & coming off a decent year + Semien is coming off injury plagued season but has power & a great glove. A slight gamble at age 35.
Nimmo was done as a CF. Too much for him & he has ankle/foot issues.
Nimmo was taking a step back in the clubhouse this year. You could see his stoic tone come through in interviews. He was declining defensively. Nimmo had never been made available and there obviously were teams that still wanted him for the contract. It was a wise move to trade him with value left and get something you want.

If anyone actually watched Nimmo, his defense was absolutely some of the worst I’ve ever seen plus he was constantly injured. He needed to go.

Well this doesn't feel right but that may be an emotional response. Nimmo will be missed. Best of luck and I guess its a reason to catch some Rangers games. Not digging this trade. Hope it goes well for the Mets.

Sad to see Nimmo go. I really thought he was gonna be a Mets lifer.
Also, the more I think about it, and the options on the market compared to 1B; I don't see re-signing Díaz as much of a necessity as Pete. Pete Fairbanks and Robert Suarez are free agents.

I'm devastated. Nimmo was my favorite Met. I've been a Mets fan since 1962 (since I was 6 years old) BUT not any more. What is Stearns doing? He got rid of the best manager in the MLB (Buck Showalter) and then this. Stearns needs to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was really confused by this as a Rangers fan. 🙃 I guess since they seem to be wanting to cut payroll, it at least seems to make a little more sense seeing they're getting an additional $5M… but… are they rebuilding or trying to win with Degrom, Eovaldi, and Seager? I may be slightly less confused… but am overall still one confused Rangers fan…
The potential starting lineup they showed had Semien batting 2nd. That's not going to happen.

There was no way I thought a club would pick up Semien’s contract. Even for the Mets, who regularly spend dumb money, it’s crazy.
“EPIC MISTAKE” THIS ONE IS GONNA LINGER, THIS AREA DIDNT NEED ADDRESSING, THE BALLPEN, THE ROTATION, THIRD BASE, ETC. NOT NIMMO, what clowns 🤡 🤧

Nimmo turns 33 the end of March and Semien turned 35 the end of September!
Both play hard but Nimmo tends to miss more Games because of injuries!

Marcus Semien will never be as 'Key' in the Mets lineup as Nimmo was.
The next one hope will be Lindor.

Re-sign Pete & Edwin, trade for Skubal, and go get BOTH Bregman & Tucker.
