It’s the players on the team that are the problem. They look like a slow old team, they can’t skate with the puck. It might be time to blow it up and start getting new younger players and we will see them in 3 to 4 years.
Matthews has to be eyeballing other teams to see where else he can play when his contract is up.

What Dcore, Rielly and OEL have been garbage on defense their whole career,then you add in Myers, Mermis, Stecher , what the FBOMB do you expect out of NON NHL players?
Benoit and McCabe have also not been very good this year and I hate to say that because I used to like both of them .
Treliving screwed us trading for Carlo who has been the worst trade he has made in TOR, Carlo is so bad it hurts to think what Treliving traded away!

This problem began when Shanahan, who is reallly the one to blame, removed Lou Lamoreillo and replaced this titan in the industry with a nobody named Dubas who became his name and was a dumb ass.
Uh, the forward corp( aka Willie) do not know how to play defence, or choose not too, and this makes the defence look that much worse

Reilly and carlo get the most ice time.. thats a coaching decision…… that tells every other player to play like those 2….. why is the team losing?? Because they are all trying to play like those 2…. even tanav their best defender gets several minutes less per game?? Play the guys playing the right way and the rest will follow.

As a die hard leaf fan, barring some absolute miracle it does feel very much like it’s a wrap on this era. On the plus side, I’m relatively indifferent, as I’ve been numbed by the perennial failure of this team.
The coach isn't the problem.
The leafs may be in a position to ship out a bunch of guys and do a quick turnaround next year – take the L on 2025-26 and come back. The core is good. The supporting cast is awful. Knies, Jt, Willie, 34 – you have four stud forwards. But the depth guys are terrible – Roy, Joshua, Maccelli, Laughton, Jarkrok, Domi, McMann – none of them are worth keeping. Take what draft capital you can and replace them next summer. Guys like that can be had on the free agent market. Try again with a different mix. If you have a bad season in 26-27 THEN you blow it up
All 3 coaches have all said the same things the team is not able to adapt ! Play physical! Dictate the rate of play!
They haven't built a farm system that has provided any players that are capable of stepping into the lineup.
Sold the barn plots of land the farm and there is left are a couple plows combined and a tractor that are old rusted, and some just won't start.
