Skinner is an AHL player but the Oilers do not play team defense anyway so it doesn't matter.
Keep in mind, this is with no Rantanen, no Duchene, and no Harley. Oilers either have to enter godmode or hope they don't meet the Stars in the playoffs cuz this is NOT looking good for them.

I can’t fathom how anyone thought this team was going to be a contender after that off season. There’s been zero attempt to acquire an NHL goalie which is something they could’ve easily done to start but here we are

97 and 29 get a lot of praise but 29 put his bag over a cup, the entire team is tragic in their own end and all this team cares about is offense.
Trust me I get Bouchard is a god damn bufoon at times but looking at his plus/minus percentage for the season he's only -1. Connor McDavid is -6. Nuge -11. Nurse -10. Mangiapane is fucking -18. It's easy to pick an individual and blame them like skinner or Bouch, but this is a systematic failure. Every aspect of this team is breaking down right now. I still look back at the team we had when we lost the cup the first time to the panthers. Every line was firing, every line was dangerous. Now we have one line that we rely on for everything. Can't win in this game as a group of individuals.

The Connor McDavid & Leon Draisaitl effect inflates inferior players statistics. Then they get a better contract than they deserve and it eats up more and more of their salary cap. On any other team Bouchard and Nurse (amongst other players) would not have the same stats. There needs to be an understanding of this when they give out contracts in Edmonton. The ownership and management is also horrendous, always doing the same things over and over… Drafting so many small players, drafting so poorly; and never addressing their serious issues: 1) they are too small, and do not protect their star players properly 2) they are too obsessed with offense, and their defense is lacking 3) They do not respect the Goalies at all. No matter who it is that comes to play in Edmonton, they get hung out to dry and their confidence gets destroyed, along with their careers.
Another problem here is the media and the fans, and the microscope that players are under in Edmonton. I so often see players get run out of town because of the media and the fans unrealistic expectations, only for those players to flourish once they leave.

That clattenberg goal should have been the wake up for them to win this for the kid. This team is an embarrassment to the game of hockey.
Easy to blame the goalies, but Dallas would still have won if they had only scored 2 goals! You only win when you score more than the opposing team so can you blame Skinner for not scoring goals?
Sucks as an oilers fan but I'm also glad my prediction was right.
This teams mixed with players in their first or second season in the NHL, players that have always been mid, and an aging core. Many goals may also not be skinners fault but he's ass. My standard is blackwood being above 900 on the sharks.
We have the greatest player in the world and his line mates right now are fucking savoie and roslovic.
Oilers have the most GA in the league, by a lot; and the worst defence in many categories. This is not goaltending, this is team defence and really awful upper management who are responsible for the entire roster and the indefensible contracts.
Just proving the Oilers last year were a fluke. They should have been eliminated against LA if it wasn't for the refs and bone headed coaching

Connor McDavid needs to be stripped of the C. He's a spoiled brat who throws tantrums and pouts when he loses. A sore loser is not a good leader.
As a Detroit fan. The team I dislike the most right now is the Stars because Jamie Benn is a super talent with the attitude of a preschooler. But over the last 15 years the most infuriating franchise is easily the oilers. These guys were gifted 4 first overall picks in 6 years. And one of them is the player of the century. And they have never amounted to anything other than the place Connor McDavid backpacks an ongoing disappointment. I would even say Buffalo has the right to look at the Oilers and say “Wow, you guys are really screwing things up” They have been given every chance to make things right and they don’t capitalize. And now the second coming of Karl Marx appears with the best player in the world taking a 50% discount and all they got is a .500 record.
