  1. I think it’s clear that Colorado is pushing for first to avoid Dallas in the first round all together. I think playing them after an easy first for us and hoping for them to battle it out with the oilers or jets is optimal. We were an 85% win chance with 8 min to go in game 7… yet what happened happened. I think we let off at exactly the wrong time.

  2. Going to the Wild’s game against the Avs on Friday. Hoping Wallstedt can steal one for my team.

  3. Thank you for wearing the best jersey the Avalanche have ever had. I have always loved that all-Burgundy jersey because it is the team's primary color, and I have long felt that there has been pressure to shift to blue. Burgundy is so unique, and too many teams wear blue. I really liked the special Nordiques-themed throwback from a few years ago that were burgundy on white with burgundy pants. It would be great to see a new all-burgundy "third" kit, sort of like the jerseys the Coyotes had in their final years.

  4. fun fact: The goal differential of the Avs this season (ass of last night) is larger than all of the positive teams in the west combined, and 3 behind the east. Maybe that isn't a fun fact for the other 31 teams, but it is still bonkers

  5. I think a majority of Avs fans would say that Nichushkin would be our best 2 way forward. He hunts pucks like crazy

  6. 10:40 I kinda like Artturi Lehkonen for Selke. Me personally I don't think the avs would get that trophy (just too many great 2WF's in the league), but either MacKinnon or Lehky would be my picks.

  7. Shannon – Thank you for this video. I’ve been following the Avs for years and have attended countless games, but I have never witnessed a performance like this, not even during the Cup run in ’23. This season is a true statement for the team. The front office secured numerous contracts early, giving their foundational players peace of mind, which was a huge move. Being free from concerns about future team changes and able to focus solely on playing hockey has instilled tremendous confidence in the players. Acquiring the Lumber Yard for Colorado has, so far, proven to be a massive win in terms of trades, and the front office decisions by Sakic and his team have been outstanding. Both Nate and Makar have expressed their desire to stay in Colorado and demonstrated it by taking pay cuts. This is the most complete roster, from top to bottom, that I have ever seen for the Avalanche, and it is finally translating into results on the ice. The NHL is officially on Avalanche watch alert!

  8. If anyone deserves the Bill Masterton, it's JT from Winnipeg, he didn't have a team to stay with throughout his ordeal that helped with all of his medical stuff, he didn't get to play at the end of the season last year despite many saying he could have, I think it should go to JT if the both keep at the same pace, if one or the other starts to outperform the other, then I can understand the changes in voting but at the point were at right now, I think JT should be ahead of Landeskog

  9. As a fan, it's been a lot of fun; however, any of us who are students of the game understand regular season performance doesn't mean crap come mid April.

  10. Two points – Lehkonen is a likely Selke candidate. He is so strong defensively and plays the PK. Doesn’t have a ton of points but he’s a major impact player. Brock Nelson too for sure, but Lehky has my vote.

On the goalie stats situation, note that Blackwood is the primary goaltender, but he’s coming back from surgery and they’ve eased him back into the lineup with some lower stakes opponents. I would expect wedgie to get a bit of a break here soon with how well Blackwood has done. But Scott is starting against Minnesota tomorrow…

  11. As an Avalanche fan, I really hope we stay healthy and keeps the positivity moving forward. They are playing lights out.

  12. One other note about the Avs: they've trailed by more than one goal only three times this season, in three consecutive games, against Carolina (OTL), Boston (only regulation L), and New Jersey (OTL). They still haven't lost by more than one goal.

  13. Go Avs Go!!!!
I know this pace won't last, but this team is still on a tear and should be feared deep into this season.

  14. It’s crazy this team lost rantanen and seemed to have gotten more dangerous somehow. I think more teams should be willing to make those hard decisions

  15. Still cannot believe that the Avs have 2 goalies who – even might be – are in discussion for Vezina. And I'm truly happy about that! Don't know how sustainable this pace is, but love every moment of it 🙂
Also – as someone who lives in Europe – glad that for the next 2 games I don't have to wake up in the middle of the night (Wild @9:30PM CET, Habs @9PM CET).

  16. big val is the best we got for the selkie i believe if hes healthy. dude creates tons of turnovers, plays the pk, but still puts up points

  17. And Logan O'Connor is almost ready to come back too! He will be a huge addition to the power play which is still needing a boost.

  18. The Avs feel like they have a lot more energy this year than in the previous few. It's fun to watch. They are really aggressive on puck retrieval.

  19. As an Avalanche fan that hits number scares me for the playoffs, do they have enough grit to stand up to bigger more physical teams? Because thats been their biggest weakness in the playoffs, a good fast team but can get bullied in playoff series when it slows down and gets physical. Though captain my captain, so happy Landy is back to give us an edge we didn't quite have without him.

If this continues does Jared Bednar deserve a look at Coach of the Year? Or does the front office deserve a nomination for an award?

  20. I’m sad bc tomorrow either the Avs or the Wild need to lose their win streak! The avs with 10 and the Wild with 6. We all know the avs will win, and I’m rooting for them to extend the streak to break the all time record, but I feel bad that the Wild has to lose their momentum

  21. 14:23 if they look at stats alone, sure, Blackwood. But if they look at the actual games, Wedgewood has kept the Avs in so many games by putting the team on his shoulders this season. Wedgewood has stolen quite a few games for the Avs this season, and the numbers unfortunately dont reflect that super well. And the cherry on top is the storyline that the starter got injured, so the backup stepped up in a huge way to prove himself

  22. I think blackwood is better but I am really impressed with Wedgewood and i would be at all suppressed if he outgrows the team for a short stent as a started for another team

  23. I do wonder when Bednar will get respect for his role with the team. The team has been consistently good with a cup win since he's been behind the bench and he's only gotten 1 Jack Adam's nomination and no win in 8 seasons? I know that people will argue about being spoiled for roster but still, the coach has to be good to get respect from the players.

  24. As a Devils fan, I am very happy to see Blackwood and Wedgewood doing so well. Good for them! I feel like Devils fans are too hard on our goaltending while not hard enough on our defense.
