  1. The Thorton trade Button referred to saw the Bruins get Marco Sturm, Wayne Primeau and Brad Stuart in return. All these trade rumours we have been hearing now for Hughes, the Canucks are getting good supporting pieces and draft picks in return. In none of these rumours would the Canucks get a Norris trophy-calibre defenceman or comparable back (AXP was compared by Button to be like a Sergei Zubov – excellent D-man, but nowhere near a Norris trophy calibre). If Team Tank continues in its full operation this year, the Canucks can get McKeena, and getting McKeena would be similar to the Blackhawks getting Bedard and the Sharks getting Cerebini – give the team two years, and it can be a contender again. Hughes would be 28 years old by then, still very much in his prime. Make this the selling point to convince the guy to stay.

  2. Quinn Hughes won't tell Vancouver he will re sign. If he intended on signing, HE WOULD JUST SAY SO. But he hasn't. He wants out. Crying out loud people, we need to accept it. He doesn't want to play here. He's probably tired of soft players, stupid ownership and incompetent management with the worst medical staff in the NHL.

Management will blow this. They will hold him way to long. They will make an excuse that they wanted to hang on to him to try and do a pathetic playoff run that they will fail at. They will get rental return for Hughes because they WILL BLOW THIS AND BLOW IT BADLY.

  3. I assume/hope that in depth discussions are already happening between the team and Quinn.

  4. It's crazy people are still suggesting hughes is going to stay .. his prime time line doesnt even make sense for the camucks anymore let alone every reason he would want to leave himself .. trading him is the only chance you have for quick rebuild

  5. I'm as big a Hughes fan as there is but the best thing we can do with him is trade him for a haul and get the rebuild going. He's the type of asset you can start a proper rebuild with. He's amazing but he's still part of this core that hasn't gotten it done. The rebuild starts with him and go from there.

  6. have to say, the hockey is entertaining, too bad they lose, but those goalies, they're all giants, getting harder to score

  7. They need to spend a whole practice hitting the net. There must have been dozens of times a night over the Utah and Detroit games were the play by play guy was "just wide of the net".

  8. Let’s be serious— I am sure Rutherford and Allvin have had this talk with Quinn and fully know his long term hockey desires. Although, all parties involved obviously have to keep their cards close to their vest, I hope they get this all done sooner than later for the sake of the fans and the franchise.

  9. The Redwings are one of a few teams that could pull off a Hughes trade. They have the pieces to make it happen. ASP and Kasper are an opener. There's a trade that can be done. Maybe the Buffalo Sabres. Very few teams. New Jersey doesn't have the pieces. Simon Nemec won't do it.

  10. Rutherford opened his trap and caused all the new drama. Him and Alvin are the worst duo in the league. Swedes prospects and drafting Swedes with picks they aquire for Hughes are inevitable. Fire 🔥 them ASAP. Crowd needs to chant it before Aqua does anything

  11. I used to think that the Hall/Nuge/Yakupov Oilers were the most mismanaged era in all of pro sports in modern times, but the Canucks will give them a run for their money if the calamity continues.

  12. We need players that can make it to the playoffs and play good in the playoffs. Hughes cant even make the playoffs, he is not that good. The Vancouver simp fans have never seen playoff hockey. All they have ever witnessed, was a cock dissappearing into their ass.

  13. Tired of the Quinn Hugh’s trade to play with bros, why don’t the Canucks pursue trading for Jack and Luke? The three Hugh’s bros in Vancouver.

  14. The Canucks don’t have alot of talent even with a 2C, at best team is just a bubble team. I like how Button thinks though of this situation.
