This is actually a horrible deal for the oilers. They gave up a not so good tendy for another bad tendy that costs the team more against the cap and for more years while giving up a 2nd and Also they lose kulak and get a worse d man while giving up a 3rd…yikes
Skinner and Kulak are both in the last year of their deals. Pens get a "future" 2029 2nd round pick. Pens have 4 goalies now: Silovs, Skinner, Sergei Murashov, and Joel Blomqvist. The Pens GOT RID OF JARRY!!! Both contracts expire at the end of the year, Skinner and Kulak. Pens have a fluid goalie situation. The Oilers have addressed the goalie situation for now. Jarry AHL to the Oilers.

I’m a pens fan I am happy about the move it was a long time coming. Jarry has some insane ability to make great saves but at the same time he has let in the first shot of the game a comical amount of times. Edmonton scores enough to cover up some of his bad goals and he definitely can steal a few games. I will add that he has had some attitude issues when defense breaks down in front of him. I don’t blame him based on how the pens defense has played in front of him for a few years but it’s not good for the locker room and was rumored to be why he was benched for a long stretch by Sullivan. For what he is I don’t think his contract is that bad, we more so didn’t like the length but his 5m was pretty fair market value. He also has some injury history and conditioning concerns but it was said he worked hard this off season and started well under the new regime with a clean slate so pretty good timing for Edmonton to get him and for us to get rid of him.
Feels like a typical Bowman overpay. Reminds me of him trading for Jones in Chicago. An overpay knee jerk trade. Dubas got an effective dman, a goalie and a 2nd round pick for a goalie who was waived last year and a young player who has not performed.
I'll wait for Jarry to play some games before judging it too harshly but man, giving up a second round pick and Skinner for someone who has been slightly better but has almost no playoffs experience and he cost 3mil more? Rough. Jarry also has that same exact problem of being inconsistent which has drove Oilers fans INSANE whenever it happens. No retention at all aswell? Yikes.
Darnell Nurse to Pittsburgh would be the worst trade in Penguins history, doesn't even matter what the price would be. Darnell Nurse SUCKS! Gets paid way too much! You couldn't trade him for spare skate blades. Dubas won this trade hands down. Goaltending isn't the Oilers problem it's their pathetic defense.
