Massive mistake by the Oilers
Not a mistake. Completely overrated late tweener. People just like him because of the story, but his play on the ice is AHL-level and nothing more. Give the minutes to Samanski
Why do we have to give up on every single young player who could be a solid depth piece FOR CHEAP. Instead its mangiapanie, skinner, arvidsson, henrique for triple the cost and little to no gain.
Success is built upon losses and learning from them.
However look at the losses – philp, thomacek maniapane Frederic skinner times two, the twin offer sheets et al.
Is oiler management learning from the losses and thus are on a path to success?
Holloway would have been injured as an Oiler most of the time anyways
I wish Tyler was the GM.
Totally agree Tyler it's bullshit
No issues with either call, but Clatty absolutely should have stayed in the NHL. Kid brought so much energy ti the 4th line.
Only two weeks since you had a go at people in the comments for always going on about Holloway and Broberg. It’s done, time to move on. We won’t miss Philp.
Kris Knoblauch is a problem
He’s going to help Carolina defeats Florida in playoffs if that’s what y’all see in him
He is a 27 year old nobody. Every team waives players like this, it’s all on the player not the team.
they dont give enough runway for the young players BUT they also SHOOT THEMSELVES IN THE FOOT by giving almost EVERYONE NMC contracts.
This was a huge loss for the Oilers. Phelp was far better than at least 3 of the players on this roster
The whole farm system; they can't fill in the bottom six or even the bottom three. Why even have a minor league system when they sign any schlepe free agent?
Put Henrique on waivers
Oilers had their chance, welcome to hell (Canucks fan here)
It's funny to hear the Oilers fanbase think they got gold hiding in Bakersfield. Other than Hutson you guys got absolutely nobody who is NHL ready. Signed, long time Bakersfield Condors season ticket holder
when you have Henrique making 3million and yet he consistently gets 3rd line duty even when he's been pretty useless all year (he's a PK guy and our PK sucks), letting Philp go for free hurts even more. Henrique gotta go if they want bottom 6 to improve in all honesty… he's played a large role and thanks to him for all he's done, but the cliff is well behind him and he's already landed at the bottom of the abyss
A band-aid. Always hurt. There’s always someone else.
Let this be the beginning of a rebuild where everyone over 25 gets shipped out for picks and prospects who will one day win a cup
Oil player development needs improvement.
You said it! Noah Philp didn't show enough intensity at the NHL level! Philp isn't 21 ,he's 27 or 28 so he needed that energy!
Stay in your lanes boys, there’s a reason you’re looking for clicks and GM’s are where they are. Other content is good, stick with it.
Oilers need to give a guy a legit chance, and not eggbeater these guys around after three shifts. Knobby and all the other coaches in the last decade have done the same thing. Baffles me.
McDavid's signing is forcing them to try to win now, not in five, so they are clearing space for the deadline. The future is not their focus, so much
Get over Broberg and Holloway. Holloway was good last season but has regressed this season and is hurt, again. Broberg logging minutes but not many points.
