Wingers on the Canucks aren’t even doing anything either, His linemates have been terrible the last bit as well. How many times did he set up Mikeyev and now Brock and he misses the net or it hits the goalie right in the crest.

Not to defend or anything but P had have 2 horrible years in his personal life and add injury's to that and seeing your captain leaving its a lot. And yes he's a professional and it comes with the game but i feel like its easy to forget and to me it looks like its brought him a chip on his shoulder and made him lose his, in lack of a better word, swagger.
Also don't forget that he was in the all-star shooting competition and won, so saying he has a slow shot nowadays, perhaps, but the bangers are still there somewhere. He just needs a confidence boost but where that's going to come from i don't know, perhaps a shift in scenery or a new younger more hungry environment also can work.

I realize you need to make content, but this narrative is getting exhausting to continuously listen to. And it’s just adding unnecessary fuel to this dumpster fire of a season. I feel like everyone assumes you can find a consistent 60+ pt two way centre like it’s nothing. He was and still is the steal of his draft class (besides Makar). Put him with the right wingers, in the right coaching system, and one full season of no off ice drama (including giving him time to mourn the death of his unborn child), and I guarantee he is back to his top form.
I think Petey got concussed in a few early hits, think he had another early this season into the boards. When you takes hits at the NHL level and to your head, no telling how your body will react.
I wonder how different of a position we would be in right now if we traded EP instead of JT. Not saying it was the wrong call, just wondering…
Right now the canucks should be patient and atleast see what happens in the lottery. A good draft this year can change things REALLY fast and the Canucks have an interesting young team.

It's all between the ears, put MacKinnon on this team I'm sure he'd drop off in production just as bad. His mental was shattered by Tocc and Millsey, add to that he's got 0 elite talent to play with anymore. Eichel had the reverse once he went to Vegas. I hope for Peteys sake he gets a trade and with a new set of surroundings, teammates, and culture he would be a perpetual Selke finalist.

Honest question from someone who literally knows jack about hockey but enjoys watching the highlights, especially Vancouver from some reason:
Isnt Pettersson doing better than expected, contextually? I mean the team is in the very worst team in the entire league, his teammates produces nothing and still, he seems quite solid defensively and also produces alot of points. Would for instance Mcdavid and Mackinnon do much better if they played in the bottom team? Or is hockey such an individual sport such things doesnt matter as much as in soccer for instance?
Good luck replacing a possible career Canuck number one centre like Petey. I’m mad at the situation, but I think with all the Swedish kids on the team, keep him!

I see the arguments that he needs better wingers and Tocchet ruined him. While those have merits my problem is he does not seem engaged. His injuries are debatable at times to keep him out of the lineup. His IQ on the ice is smart but off the ice he doesn't seem engaged. I think he's used to shorter seasons in Europe and summers off. Unfortunately the NHL has become a all year around league with intense off season training. Petey just doesn't wanna do that. He wants to sit & soak up the sun. I think at best he is a 2nd line C who oy wants to play part time on a team with a offensive coach like Boudreau. In a non caring US market. Maybe Phoenix when they come back will be his jam?

I realize it´s always the haters who scream the loudest, however…I say trade EP40 if possible, for his sake. Whenever a Canadian team runs into problems and losing streaks the fanbase wants to put all the blame on non-canadian players, especially Swedes. Chicken swedes who are small, skinny cowards and plays with no grit or heart, right? I wish VAN trades everybody who´s not Canadian, replaces them with only Canadians and then watch the team continue losing. It would be really interesting to see how the fans would try and explain that, lol
