Great return (two 2nd round picks) too
Clearly they were not getting the offers they were looking for and had to settle for a couple of 2nd round picks. Clayton is clearly an AHL depth guy to help Abby. Surprising they didn't wait until the deadline where they probably could have got more but maybe the offers were so bad that they couldn't see even a first rounder coming back even then. My guess is they got some more work to do in the trade game. The good news is they really are going for draft picks for a rebuild. They have been really good with the draft so i think this move really is a move into their strengths as managers.
I'm gonna miss Sherwood! Anyway, the rebuild has started and this trade brings some cap space as well. ..

That does not seem like that much. Two mid round second round picks, and I do not know the prospect they received. It had to happen, but I thought there was more out there for him. God bless!
