Whenever he isn’t on the ice Stanley sits at a large mahogany desk, in an dimly lit room, deep in the bowels of Canada Life Centre. Waiting silently and patiently. The desktop is bare and gleaming, outside of a bright red, rotary phone. Stanley concentrates on the phone, willing it to ring, but it’s been years and the silence of the un-ringing phone is deafening in Stanley’s ears. Suddenly his prayers are answered and the tinny ring of the ancient phone fills the small room. Stanley reacts, swiftly picking up the receiver and tentatively lifting the receiver to his ear.
« Mr Stanley sir » an out of breath voice wheezes on the other end of the phone call, « It’s finally happened! Your jersey sir….you sold a jersey!!! »
