All of this tanking just to lose the draft lottery. I hope they get some good return on these trades.
This is good news, but I need to be blown away from a Hronek offer to let him go.
He is a legit 1D on a sweet contract and just turned 28 in November. We still need some leadership during a rebuild and he already expressed he wants to stay. Having Buium, Willander, and D-Petey learn from M-Petey or Myers isn’t ideal. They need to be mentored by a legit 1D who can play a 200-foot game.

Trade as many of them as possible. We can sign “vets” for cheap in UFA. They are a dime a dozen. Also weaponize cap space and take on as many shitty contracts for picks as possible. Then package some of the later draft picks into a bundle for early first round picks.

Only untouchable should be Hronek. And even then if you get a massive overpayment you consider.
Pettersson should be the priority before the Olympic break. Don’t want more evidence he can’t hang at the Olympics to lower the return any further.
The thing that surprised me the most about Frieds segment was that Hronek if he sticks around is potentially a captain candidate. I can’t imagine he’d do it given how much he hates dealing with the media.
Trade them all. This needs to go down to the absolute studs.

I really dont want to more Hronek. Dudes unreal and exactly the ki d of veteran you want around the youngins. I’d prefer to keep Garland as well. The rest of the team im pretty indifferent to.
I hope we keep Hronek for at least a few more years to provide stability on RD and help develop Buium. Without Hronek our next best D is Myers, and no one wants that. Same for EP40 as well. If we get Stenberg or McKenna, we need a better C than Rossi/Chytil/Raty to play with them. If nothing else, he can help insulate the young guys on the defensive side.
Everyone else on that list, you can let go as they are easily replaceable.

As a Habs fan I’m really sad to hear how much you all value Hronek, as you should, but my dream for acquiring him is not going to happen. I wonder how much EP40 would cost in a terms of assets.

Why no calls on MP3? For Hronek it would have to be a haul. Finding top Dmen is a crapshoot outside the first few picks.
Petey and Hronek? Blow my socks off type of offer with no retention in the only way I’d trade them.
Garland? Would have to be a really, really good offer.
The rest? I would be fine trading, with Myers the only question mark because of respect for him and his NTC
