As a Pens fan living in Denver: Puusty shows flashes. He has a great shot/passing ability but just couldn’t seem to consistently string together those positive performances at the NHL level. Hope he can here in Denver, I’ll be at a few of the upcoming games and would love to see him!

This almost certainly means theyre going after other defensive depth. Soloyev wasnt good for us, but i imagine he was better than anyone behind him in the depth chart.

In seriousness, I guess picking up 2 assets in return for a free waiver claim is fairly tidy work. MacFarland trades seem to either fall into the realm of either Franchise Altering Blockbusters, or Literally Who? And nothing in between. No clue what the motivation really is here when our current D pairs are Makar-Malinski, Manson-Burns, and Girard-Who??

I actually thought that since Solo had rejoined the lineup he had played quite well in a 7th D position. Obviously you don’t want him playing in the playoffs but if somebody went down it’s not like “oh fuck, we have to play Solo now.” If no moves are made I’d be a bit concerned throwing in one of the AHL guys.
Good for him. Likely going to get a bigger role in Pittsburgh. Dude deserves to be an NHLer.
Not sure how I feel about trading a guy who is now unambiguously an NHLer for an AHL guy. Would’ve preferred to get a slightly higher pick and no AHL guy but McFarland has earned trust to make moves.

I wonder if Toews is close to returning. The 7th D-man is still a bit of a weak spot; Solovyov was good enough but still was clearly in a little over his head. I’ve liked what I’ve seen from Ahcan so far but it’s still kind of the same concern. Ideally I’d like a stronger option there, but if Toews is coming back soon, it’s not terribly pressing.

Pretty sure the only thing this signals is that the avs will be making attempting to make a move for an impact player. Impact forward + vet d player. Or just an impact Dman.

Oh ok this wasn’t on my radar. Wishing the best to Solo,he has great potential and evidently was worth picking up.
