Only thing that helps this team is getting rid of reilly.. n trading a couple of these super slow big guys up front.. lorents sucks big guy no big hits n not tough at all.. roy big guy, slow not tough at all…. leafs went big but grabbed the softest big guys on such an already soft team.. thenn add in a big old slow soft dcore.. thats why they wont make the playoffs..
If trade Simon Benoit get RD then LD still big issue and leafs get a log jam on RD have carlo, OEL, Troy Stecher, Myers, Matt Benning and Marshall Rifai and Henry Thrun and then add Dougie Hamilton or Luke schenn
Then only have Morgan Reily and McCabe and Dakota Mermis on LD

i dont see it happening. Just too much money, for not much (if any) improvement, and Benoit was decent enough last year in the playoffs.

Last night should have made it clear to all of us.. We are not competing for a cup without a #1 super star dman. Our defense is horrible. Trade all of McAbe, Carlo, Rielly and OEL. Get picks and prospects. Sign FA's. Start planning for two years down the road with a rebalanced farm system.

We need to keep Benoit. Rielly has to go for whatever they can get.
If I was the Leafs GM, I would trade away every single player in the Leafs system that is 29 years or over for as much back in prospects and picks as possible. Replace the missing pieces with weak UFAs on cheap 1 or 2 year contracts and do a complete rebuild.

For Hamilton, I'm still concerned 1) his annual salary of 9 mil, is disturbing, and the bonus money is too high to even look at attaining him. Justin Falk, Colton Payrako, Luke Schenn, and Damon Severson should be considered.
