He is our one of our # 1s. Miner is our #3 and we don’t need a #2 if we have two 1s

  2. We won the cup with far less. I’m more worried about the bois staying healthy. I was kinda glad the goalies didn’t make the Olympic team.

  3. I am genuinely confused to be honest. How do I say I think Blackwood is our guy when Wedgewood has been otherworldly?

We can win the cup with the goaltending we’ve had this year. That is my answer.

  4. Saltyspiton

We have 2 starting goalies. Keep rolling both of them. This is the best goalie controversy we could ask for

  5. Spiritual_galaxy

Blackwood is the #1 when he can play on a regular basis, Wedgie is the 1b, not a bad thing and I love both

  6. Honey_Badger2199

The woodshed is one entity, the woodshed is our No. 1

  7. someguyfromsk

Whoever is starting that night is the #1a, the other guy is 1b

Goaltending platoons can win a cup. It worked for Vernon/Osgood and then Osgood/Hasek in Detroit.

Just keep going with the hot hand.

  9. And when I said wedgewood was starter material earlier on in the season I got shit on.

I have been purely vindicated this entire year.

    We don’t have 1A and 1B.

    We have 1A and 1A*

I’m in a throuple relationship with Blackwood and Wedgewood. It’s polyamorous. No #1. Just big love.

We finally get a legit goalie and his backup says hold my beer.

  12. kakyointhedonutman

It’s more of a situation where Wedgewood is starter level when he has to step in, but Blackwood is always starter level when healthy. Blackwood has a higher floor consistently, but they both reach similar ceilings as goalies.

  13. It is question like this that make me glad to not be the coach. The lumber yard is doing great. I do not have an answer. GO AVS!

  14. Best_Ad_7503

If it was game seven, I’m going with the wedge!

  15. Sackroy1933

I believe in both guys being capable of .910 consistently in the playoffs, I am honestly fine with either of them

  16. We undoubtedly have the best goalie duo in the league, and at their current form both are top 10 (at least) goalies. I honestly don’t care which starts because both will give us a great chance of winning.

Come playoff time I really don’t know which I’d want. Goalie just as a position can be pretty streaky so if one is slumping that makes it easy, but if not then I really wouldn’t mind either way, even if we switched off every game lol.

I feel like Blackwood struggles with injuries but when he is past it and in his groove he is awesome. Both amazing. I think Wegewood has shown more due to having more play time so I trust him a little more.

    Good problem to have.

  18. ILoveTales

For now he is. There’s still a few months left before the playoffs so a lot can happen but if he keeps playing the way he has all the way to the end of the regular season then he more than earned to start come playoff time

  19. I see Blackwood as the long term choice and Wedgewood as playing his way into a no. 1 spot for another team. I’d love to keep both but the way he’s playing we can’t afford it, I think he tests free agency after next year

  20. Quirky_Department349

Do you guys think you would run one goalie the whole playoffs if they are not injured or would you still go 1A/1B?

  21. notthatguypal6900

We have a 1A and 1B, i’m good with whoever starts.

  22. ExerciseReady8771

I feel like the Avs have played so well this season that you can’t relate to the struggles of the common man anymore hahah.

You have two goalies with a consistent .917% save, and odds are you’re probably going to win every time you step on the ice- don’t question either, you are blessed.

I watch your games to enjoy the outrageous saves both of them make, plus your commentators just get so excited- WHAT A SAVE FROM WEDGEWOOD is permanently burned into my brain. They were both robbed of an Olympic team spot.

    Kind regards,
    Oilers fan

P.s. we actually also finally have a good tandem which is why I can laugh instead of cry.

  23. alastairsss

I would prefer Blackwood to start game 1 of the playoffs because advanced stats say he saves more goals above expected, but it’s such a luxury to have Wedgewood lighten the load so competently especially with recent injury concerns

  24. Big_Liability

Blackwood is the #1. I love Wedgewood, but he screams to me as a REALLY good backup and if he got full starting minutes it would fall off by the end of the year

  25. Ca1fSlicer

Is the question do I believe in wedgewood or is he the clear number 1 of Blackwood? Absolutely to the first probably not to the second. I trust both goaltenders an when it comes to the playoffs I go with the hot hand. Last year I honestly thought wedge was red hot goin into the playoffs an should’ve been given a game or two, but in general Blackie is 1a when healthy a both on their game. It’s a tremendous luxury to have
