Hey Corey, thank you for all your rankings and articles over the years. I have enjoyed all your work.

A common point of discussion here is your rankings of Lane Hutson. Can you explain your rankings of Hutson?

  2. Okbutwhythat

Hey Corey, why do you hate small players?

  3. Hey Pronman!

Long time first time, what would you say is your biggest mistake and why was it Lane Hutson?

  4. Casiusclaws

Lane Hutson’s « average compete ». What were you smoking?

  5. DepressoEspressoRW

Hey Mr. Pronman. Why is Lane Hutson a top 5 defenceman in the NHL despite being buried in your rankings?

  6. Suspicious_Major_571

Hey Corey, why do you hate Lane Hutson? Is it because he jas yedi mind powers and can trip other players at will?

  7. machined1990

Can’t wait for this lol getting my popcorn ready

  8. WayneHutson94

Hey Corey, care to justify Hutson having average compete? The eye test fails that completely

  9. capebretoncanadian

Is your ranking of Hutson what the kids call rage-bait?

Hey Corey, couple of quick questions about Lane Hutson:

    • He’s currently two points behind Cale Makar. Hutson is of course 21 years old, Makar is 27 years old.

    • There have only been 5 other defensemen in NHL history with more points than Hutson in their first 130 games: Cale Makar, Larry Murphy, Phil Housley, Sergei Zubov, and Brian Leetch.

    • Hutson become the 2nd fastest defenseman in NHL history to reach 100 assists, after Zubov.

    • Lane Hutson’s 66 points last year is 5th in NHL history among NHL rookie defensemen, surpassing Ray Bourque, Chris Chelios, Nicklas Lidstrom, Denis Potvin and Al MacInnis among others in their rookie seasons.

    • Hutson’s 60 assists last year is also tied for 1st among all rookie defensemen in the history of the NHL. Only 6 rookies in NHL history, all forwards, had more assists than Hutson did last year.

    • You had listed Will Smith, Dylan Guenther, Cutter Gauthier, Beckett Sennecke and Adam Fantilli ahead of Lane Hutson in your best NHL player under-23 list. Were there any NHL rookie records those players had reached that we’re not aware of?

All that to say: if Lane Hutson has “average compete” as you called it, do all the Hall of Fame defensemen I just listed also have average compete in your opinion? Looking forward to you answering this question.

    Lane Hutson .. that’s all I’ll say

  12. Casiusclaws

In your redraft you put Zeev Biuum ahead of Ivan Demidov. What were you smoking?

  13. dessanct

This will be cancelled, calling it now lol

If you were to rank the 4 major sports in NA, how you would rank them in terms of the ability of national coverage to give an accurate ranking of players? What makes the NHL unique amongst the 4 that makes it more or less difficult than the others?

And, more specifically, are those the reasons why you keep screwing up the Lane Hutson ranking?

  15. Jeeonta

Coucou Corey ! On a scale of 1 (good) to 10 (terrible), how painful was it for you when Lane Hutson won the calder over Celebrini last season ?

  16. Renard_NMB

Care to explain how come Jacob Fowler doesnt even make your list? That is, despite earning starts at 21 years while some others are not even close to starting in this league? (Marcus Gidlof, really?)

  17. Antho068

Hi Corey, do you watch hockey in braille?

  18. Retired-ADM

Thanks for taking the time to do this Corey.

When do you expect to publicly admit that you have a blind spot for Hutson?

  19. french_sheppard

Were you expecting any other questions?

  20. Majestic-Painter4409

Corey, Hutson’s dropping 52 points in 50 games as a 5’9” Norris-candidate D, yet ranked behind Fantilli and Smith who aren’t even sniffing that production. Do you feel ready to admit that the tier drop is pure ragebait, or do you just hate elite puck-movers who skip the ‘grow 4 inches’ step? Thanks in advance!

Hi Corey, With Seth Jones injury, Jackson LaCombe will join the Team USA Olympic roster. Do you agree with their selections and specifically the Caufield and Hutson snub?

  22. kramdrallim

Hey Corey, Lane Hutson continues to prove you wrong every single time he steps on the ice. How does that make you feel?

  23. Dheelus

    Hey Corey,

Curious to know what you think Lane Hutson’s ceiling would be if he learns how to compete or skate better.

  24. habscup

Hey Corey, I know it’s hard to catch every prospect, but with ratings like Hutson’s « average compete » or Schaefer’s « above-average » skating when it would take about 5 minutes of watching either of them to see that Hutson is an absolute dog and Schaefer is a world-class skater even at 18 (backed up by edge stats if the eye test somehow failed), it makes it hard to believe you watched them at all. Same with when, last January, you said Hutson could still become a top 4 defenseman while he was thriving in top pairing minutes.

Have you considered scaling down your prospect rankings? It’s okay to only watch a certain amount of players and to miss some others, and would help to avoid clearly inaccurate assessments.
