Thats what bad goaltending does to a team. Our goalies are among the worst in GSAx, bottom two in team save percentage, and quite frankly they always allow a goal on the first 5 shots of a game. They force our team to play from behind and it’s incredibly frustrating when this team is mediocre defensively and elite offensively. They should be 1st in the Atlantic if it wasn’t for atrocious goal tending

We need to find a way to tighten up and allow less goals. We can’t come back every game.

Looking at our goaltending, we stand at around -7.5 xGSA. Those stats are outdated, we are 28th in the league at 171 GA. If our goalies were playing some average hockey, we would be at 163.5, which means we would be 21st in the league just ahead of the Jackets. Our defense is not perfect, but it’s hard to not put a part of the blame on our tending duo.

i know its not all on the goaltenders but when you double the opponents in shots and lose by 2….
I think we need a come to jesus moment when we realize that the lions share of starts needs to go to fowler, even if he’s young.

Bad goaltending and mediocre defence will do that

We would be fucking deadly with even just average goaltending…

Our defense sucks.
We have a terrible time getting the puck out of our zone and we let opposing players get at our net.

We are 10th in Shot against per game. There is room for improvement, but the real issue is the goalie problem. We alternate between the 76th and the 61st goalie in the league… A league with 32 team. Even if we remove all the alternate and injured goalie that played less than 10 game this season, we are still way closer to the bottom of the league
If we want to have a better team, the glaring problem is the goalies. The fact is, we have a good offense, an average defense and a bottom tier goaltending.

It occurred to be during yesterday’s game that it was the 7th game in a row allowing 3+ goals (3-3-1 record).
We could be such a powerhouse if our goals against came down.

This is is why our most important need is a big defensive minded right hand D man.

Obviously the habs didn’t get great goaltending but i feel (just the eye test) that opposing goalies didn’t play particularly well against the Habs this year—obviously the offense is still great—and that explains a bit both stats.
