@Canadiens de Montréal

Dobes should get like 3 starts out of 5 and Fowler 2 out of 5

I mean, we really just needed a save tonight, and he was not there. Sure, scramble in front of the net, but I think at least one of those 4 he definitely should have had, and another one we’d expect a save most of the time.

Couple softies on 3 and 4 to take the wind out of Caufield’s hattie.

  3. Beefiest_bison

Dobes hasn’t been much better recently, but he somehow finds ways to win. We might have to recall Fowler.

You know what’s REALLY hurting me right now?

Charlie Lindgren has face 3 shots against the Oilers tonight. All 3 on breakaways. And his sv% is 100%…

Lindgren, a guy who wasn’t even good enough to backup Price, is better than Monty and Dobes this yeat

At least with Dobes, he’s getting experience and we know he’s playing for a contract. I’m starting to question Monty’s integrity at this point. He’s awful. The goals he lets in are awful.

  6. LucidMarshmellow

Monty’s inconsistency continuing after a stint in the AHL should be the deciding factor.

Direct the focus on developing future goalies rather than what seems to be a lost cause.

  7. Bro thinks Dobes is any better. His record is good but that’s just the team bailing him out because most games with him we still need to score 4+ goals. This team NEEDS consistent goaltending. Fire Eric Raymond

  8. Minato_is_God

Monty had his reset in Laval, came back, and it’s still the same as it was before. He’ll make big saves and then let in softies that completely kill our momentum.

I like the guy but it’s obviously not working. Not sure Dobes is the answer either though.

No so fun fact. Since 2000, Monty has the 2nd worst career SV% and the 4th worst career GAA (min 100 game started). In the bottom 10, he’s one of the few who actually played more games (like 200 starts for Monty). That put him as one of the worst veteran goalie of his generation, with similar stats to goalies like Dan Clouthier, John Graham, Jean-Sébastien Aubin

Comments in here saying “as if Dobes is better…” I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. The difference between 3 GA and 3.5 is insanely huge. Yea obviously 3 isn’t great either, but that’s not the freaking point of the post!

Monty is not an NHL goalie right now and is going to cost us the playoffs

  12. GasEarly186

They need to be more disciplined too, we get a lot of bullshit calls but you can’t take a penalty right after a tying goal late in the 3rd period

  13. DecentClock9031

Dobes is just slightly better shit

  14. thestillwind

I don’t know what is happening. They need to step up big time.

  15. popejohnlarue

Okay, but now tell us how you *really* feel…

  16. NikitaScherbak

Calling one of our own « dogshit » is so toxic… Hes average this year, sure. Do you expect him to be a top tier goalie? Hes on a 3M a year contract

  17. Subject_Translator71

Dobes’ stats aren’t that much better. Honestly, I think he’s a #2 at this point, and plays better when he only plays every 3 games or so. He was doing well until Monty crashed out and forced St. Louis to use him more.

I do think that Fowler and Dobes are our best goalies this season, but since we’re not ready to compete for the Cup just yet, we may as well keep Monty for now and let the other two learn at their own pace.

  18. Vingt-Quatre

There were a thousand ways to say that you’re not a fan of the guy without calling him « dogshit ».

Come on. Don’t be an asshole.

  19. Upbeat-Condition-182

We should refrain from verbal abuse ( dogshit ), but I agree he’s not our #1 goalie. At this point it’s clear he’s not having a good season and that we should prioritize someone who wins and makes the team feel confident. I think Dobes is our guy.

  20. Flubbies

Yeah and 0.887 will bring us to the playoffs. Good logic

  21. Spicy_Pickle_6

He’s been solid for how many games now and not a peep. We let in 3 powerplay goals out of 4 and you guys are up in arms. Get real, defensive coverage was absolute ass on top of stupid penalties.

  22. jjohnson1979

Weird because Dobes’ stats show that he’s only good when he had 4+ days rest.

  23. brentecusack

Calling him “dogshit” is pretty ignorant, especially coming from a Habs fan. I agree he’s inconsistent and something needs to change but let’s try to keep it a little classy in here.
