Texier looked so uninvolved last night. He would flip the puck in, and peel off to the bench. Monty made some big saves, but let in a real beachball. Yhe defensive backchecking looked rushed and unorganized. When the tending is weak, the team plays a very weird, very unstructured game.
Montembeault was so out to lunch on the 4th goal he didn't even suspect it went in. We have had 22 samples of Monty this year and his save % is .869. Like how many more samples do you need that this guy is chasing Primeau for bad. I would sign Fleury to finish the season and shop Monty to Ottawa or somebody else who is totally desperate.
As soon as I see Montembeault is playing, I automatically assume it's a loss. TRADE HIM !!!

Its weakness at defence that isnt helping. Carrier, Matheson and Dobson have all made huge mistakes that cost goals against and yet its Arber Xhekaj who is sitting on the bench or in the press box for NO REASON!!!!
How many winnable games do we need to lose because of Monty . Im sorry he's not a starting goaltender for now dobes gives us a better chance I don't understand why he's not playing more . Buffalo was a winnable game but we let 3 goals in on 11 shots .

When Dobes was playing on a regular basis the Habs were winnning, check the game logs! The minute MSL named Monty the starter after the Devils OT loss everything changed. Keep playing Monty, a top 10 pick would be nice! If you are going to be stupid, you might as well be rewarded with a high pick in this draft!

I fully expect Buffalo to collapse again after the break. They have these peaks every year, this year has been better BUT i think they will dip back down after the break. The break will cool them off. Also Monty made some big saves last night but the floaters man.. the floaters he has more issues with than the "should be goals" shots.
Feel bad for the guy, and i feel bad too that so many time defensively we just hang him out to dry and he gets absolutely lit up both on the ice AND OFF the ice. Can only blame him so much when we are constantly letting odd man downs, or no net presence and defense. Not to mention the amount of times we dont even pick up the guy on a 2-2 down. Like yeah Monty has been struggling but it cant always be his fault, he needs to improve BUT SO DO WE DEFENSIVELY.

Are you guys really this stupid? Monty kept them in the game with high level saves all night long . The problem is the coaching system , we play pond hockey , sure our offence is great but our defensive structure is terrible , basically none existant. Have either of you 2 morons ever played hockey or even watched the game? The 2 of you sound like you fell off a turnip truck along with everyone else crying about goaltending , fowlers numbers were no good either , and its not even any of our 3 goalies , its lack of coaching ability . No sense making trades as they cant fix a pond hockey system and until the defensive structure changes the habs will never win a playoff round

People aren’t blind… Monty is the problem…you can make a lot of saves, but you need to stop the ones that count.
The Habs are not a good team. No Goalie. Terrible French coach. Don't spread the BS that this is a great team. This team has scored 177 goals and allowed 175 goals. That's not all on a goalie. NO defense. This team needs a new coach with NHL experience. OOPS! I forgot. You can't have a non-French coach. Keep losing. 33 years NO CUP and counting.

While Monty is definitely a problem and I agree Dobe should be getting more starts, he is not THE problem. It's the entire team's inability to lock down a game and defend a lead. Lately it seems the Habs are more likely to win a game when trailing in the 3rd than when leading. The Leafs and Oilers have proved that you cannot rely on good offence to take you all the way and I do not want the Habs to be the 3rd team of that storyline. Keep in mind that we are already ahead of schedule in the rebuild and I don't think that rushing Fowler will help the situation long term – even if we do have a better chance with him in net. The team as a whole needs to learn how to defend a lead in the back half of this season and we need to trade for a proper lockdown defensemen, not another forward playing defense. Let Fowler finish the season in Laval, then next year bring him up with some proper defense in front of him. In the meantime, give Dobe the net.

I could tell this game was going to end badly as I watched how sloppy and back and forth the third period was. They did not get control of the pace of the game and sustain pressure in the offensive zone, and they did not get that fourth goal that would have put it away. They were one mistake away from the tie.
That rush by Matheson while short handed. Do they get hero pay in the league? What was he thinking?
