On doit essayer Laine sur le premier troi un peu, tant qu’à le payer 9.5M par année, d’un coup que ça débloque. Peut-être même essayer de mettre Demidov avec Suzuki et Laine.

  2. I’m down, give him a shot!

… Like actually do everything then pass it to him so he can shoot.

  3. Razorback101

Good. While he’s been disappointing overall during his time here. He’s never actually gotten a chance to play with the top line.

Whether this is actually giving him a chance or trying to showcase him, may as well see what he has.

  4. SetMiserable7607

let’s showcase our PP merchant on the first line a couple of games, might be good for a potential trade! And if a miracle happens and he’s the perfect fit, everyones gonna be happy!

  5. HonestDespot

Been saying for a while I expect Laine to get some chances with Nick and Cole.

last year Laine was playing with a fucked up knee and this year with a hernia. I’m curious to see him now that he’s healthy. He has so much skill! Not so long ago he was a huge scoring threat. He didn’t forget how to play hockey since. We have every reason to give him an opportunity on the first line.

  9. Ok-Bid8106

I’d give Laine a shot given that he’s playing for his career, and I’d bet he leaves it all out on the ice. I imagine he came to camp injured an we have yet to see the best version of him. Keep in mind we are not contenders this year and progress is not linear. We have noting to lose giving him a chance.

  10. Ding__Dong___Ditch

If Laine can play his size, retrieve pucks along the boards, and at least try on defence, he could be an okay stop gap fit on the top line

  11. 2ndpass

It’s worth a shot giving him playing time in the top 6. He’s never been a speed merchant but he did play on a bad knee all last year so let’s see what he can do when he’s back.

He should also be considered for pp1. I know, I know, we have had this debate for 2 years now, however the pp has struggled the last few weeks and we could use a 1 time threat.

Overall people love to dunk on Patty but without him last year I don’t think we make the playoffs.

I don’t doubt his heart. But Laine cannot keep up against top competition. This would go poorly

  13. Ajay_Bee

A joy to behold – Laine could be a potent addition to that 1st line – Bolduc got his shot, Texier had 2 incredible games but seems to have tailed off quite a bit. LFG!

  14. Kps1234567

if MSL is willing to give Monty chance after chance after chance after chance based on his performance in previous seasons it seems only fair to give Laine a crack at playing with our top line if/when he’s truly healthy again.

  15. haddonfieldsecret

In this short clip, Laine looks quicker and like he has hustle. I wouldn’t trade him just yet

  16. GasEarly186

I want to see him on the first line for one game, it’ll be interesting

  17. MainHaze

No one’s really cemented themself as the go-to player to play with Nick and Cole. If we’re not breaking up the kid line yet and putting Slaf on the top line, we might as well give Patty a chance.

That said, I’m cheering for this team regardless of who plays where so… Go Habs Go!

  18. mago_is_gago

YES! I always wanted to give Laine a chance to play on the top line!

Please, he trained so hard since he came here during the summer of 2024, Laine wants to return to his 40 goal scorer form, and I hope it will be in a Habs uniform.

  19. Habsfan_1984

Laine has had very little healthy time with us. If he’s 100% healthy I think there’s a very good chance that he can have a positive impact down the stretch. Dude has an absolute elite shot that can change a game at any point and would definitely help our PP. I love Caufield but I can’t help but wonder what the PP would look like having Demidov, Suzuki, and Hutson feeding him. The real hope is that he finds the drive to play hard and smart at 5 on 5. I think where he’s in a contract year and has missed half the season that he will be very motivated to prove he’s still a valuable NHL player.

  20. Big Diesel is back! J’ai hâte qu’il soit de retour et j’espère que ça va marcher sur le premier trio.
