Realistically this is a wash but that makes it a stupid ass trade to me. What do we actually stand to gain from this? Why are we handing the Rangers assets, even if they’re shit 99% of the time, for somebody who’s shit 100% of the time?

Not a bad trade this time of year. Can A/B test him against other similar players in the lineup to see if he becomes a slight upgrade on someone else with a change of scenery. If not, could always still try to ship him at the deadline.

We had Soucy in Vancouver. He plays a solid and reliable game and I believe he will slot in nicely on the third pairing on your team. He’s also a good leader with a calm mentoring tone to his voice. I think he’s a good pick up for you guys.

Are we going for the cup this year or not? I personally don’t think we were a Soucy away from the cup. So why trade any draft capital? I do not think buying is the right move for this franchise, but if we’re going to buy… we should buy to become contenders.
Our window opens in 2-3 years. Soucy will not be here.
