The D is so bad even with 40 points he’s still a net negative. By any metric you look at he’s one of the top 5 or 10 worst defenders in the league.
He was absolutely garbage on Saturday. I’m glad he played well last night, but his lows are LOW.
I’m glad that it hasn’t turned out as poorly as I expected when he signed. His defence is fucking awful but at least he puts up points with it, and he hasn’t been as bad for the locker room as I feared

The defense he brings do not out weight the offense. We shouldn’t not be appreciating this guy. He is still awful
I don’t think it’s accurate to say he’s a 40 point d-man. You’re using his yearly total and not season which muddies the waters significantly.
In reality:
24-25 – 35GP, 4G, 15A, 19pts
25-26 – 52GP, 4G, 18A, 22pts
That’s not a 40 point dman. He’s took nearly 20 more games to reach his point total from last year.
He also currently leads the team in giveaways and is 3rd in penalty minutes (though not nearly as horrendous as Mayfield who leads the team and has double the time in the box in just as many games played).
He does have some offensive output and his CF% is very good but I’d argue he’s a moderately offensively potent defenseman at best. Is his contract good value? Absolutely, but let’s not make TD out to be something he’s not.
I didnt like it at the time, but hes really found his stride the last few months. His personality seems to fit in with the fun vibe the team has right now. Just needs to try and fix the almost common simple mistakes on defense. I credit him as much as I do schaef for the reason our powerplay turned it up a notch.
