What if, and I know this is crazy, we make the goalkeeper that wins us games our #1 guy?

    Too crazy??

  3. AloneCulture

So 13-12-4 without him? Sounds like he’s the starter to me…

  4. matthewdonut

I love Dobey, but before everyone goes crazy here, I think we need to remember how much he started to struggle when he was getting consecutive starts

he thrives as a 1B (right now, anyway). we really need monty to start pulling his weight

  5. Ask_DontTell

what’s the bet? Monty starts the next two games again?

  6. scrubadam

And people want to throw him under the bus
He is young he will have ups and downs but he finds a way to win.
Same team without him is 13 12 and 4.   Hes doing something right

He was great tonight, very solid, but man is he aggressive in net. Similar to defenseman who like to pinch in the play in the offensive zone, he will have to pick his moments to go out of his net and not  »default » to it always. It can create big opportunities for his opponent if the shooter is able to be patient and find a clear pass.

    Queue the « yEaH…bUt MoNtY »

  9. DreamFly_13

He needs to be consistent on back to back games, that’s the only issue with Dobes right now.

Monty is going to get the next start. Watch

  11. paul_33

Sure, but everyone wanted to kill him going into OT.

EDIT – I didn’t say *I* wanted to kill him, I saw people shitting all over him after both goals. Had they lost there would have been all kinds of critics. « What have you done for me lately » I guess

  12. TheBergster84

The team plays way better when he’s in net….they don’t when its Monty——>way more fragile and they know it

Sounds to me like they should ride Dobeš for a while

Sorry, Montembeault. You can’t say the team didn’t give you chances. They gave you multiple starting games, many against bad teams. They brought up a competent backup to be your 1B. They tried out their future starter to see what he’s like to give you time to rest. They sent you to Laval for a reconditioning stint to regain your confidence. They started you in B2B games when you played poorly

There’s nothing against Montembeault as a person. As a goaltender? He’s their backup, at best. Dobeš is young, dynamic, and will only get better the more he gets exposed to the game

  14. Velitey

He’s been better than Montembeault since day 1 of training camp.

  15. Immediate_Impact6214

Don’t worry we’re going to start Monty for the next two games

  16. Habsfever

Marty still going back with Monty next game

  17. Husskies

For stats nerds. Top 5 goaltenders in the league for the win ratio. (Number of wins / Number of starts, stats from nhl.com, minimum 10 starts)

    Brandon Bussi 82,61%

    Mackenzie Blackwood 82,35%

    Tristan Jarry 71,43%

    Andrei Vasilevskiy 69,70%

    Jakub Dobes 69,57%

I’d love to hear a goaltender’s opinion about what could be the problem with Monty right now. I don’t think it’s athleticism because he’s been making some big saves. The big issue seems to be the easy goals he lets in. Is it concentration? Confidence?

  19. The amount of people backing up a goalie with 9 wins in 22 games with an average of 3.46 and a save percentage of .896 is absolutely insane.
