We should probably wait to see how he actually does for them before laughing

  2. Johnborkowski

They’re having a good season and inhaling happy gas. Just wait until he plays ten games and check back in on Palat feedback lol

  3. Initial_Weekend_5842

Tbh it doesn’t seem like they’re that excited from this post

  4. FloppyCanFly

I wish him the best and hope he tears it up with them. Just not against us!

  5. More_Armadillo_1607

    This saddens me.
If they feel this way about Palat, imagine what we could have gotten for doggie.

    Fitz messed up again.

Posts like this are why Palat will automatically have at least one point against us every game for the rest of his career. It’s just bad karma / bad juju.

I don’t get the Palat hate. It’s not his fault he’s older and now two steps behind where his brain is telling him he should be. He puts in the effort & could be useful as a 4th liner on a team with no cap issues.

  8. Some-Concentrate3229

Honestly I think Palat is gonna be just fine for the Isles. I think his style of play matches their defense-first strategy really well.

  9. Quickfix30

inb4 Paly puts up 2021 Lightning numbers for the remainder of the season and playoffs.

He didn’t fit the Devils at all but he certainly seems to fit better in the Islanders system. I mean he couldn’t possibly be any worse there than he was here.

  11. Expensive-Step-6551

There’s literally no reason to by going at Isles fans for this. The Devils created this situation for themselves, and as a result also gave up a 3rd rounder just to dump cap. They have the cap space, and only have him on the books one more year following this while also getting a draft pick, in exchange for a borderline AHL player.

Mark it now – Palat-y Hatty incoming on 2/5

  13. McRibs2024

He’s a proven playoff performer and a solid veteran voice.

I think they’ll end up happy with him

The New York jets laughed at Sam Darnold too. And now he’s in the super bowl. I’m not saying Palat will be a scoring machine but sometimes people play better in other environments.

  16. Mogilny2000

He’s going to score on us next week and then light it up in the playoffs and we will finally see what people meant when they said the Devils signed him for his postseason performance

  17. Zestyclose_Estate248

I mean…they have the cap space to play him as a bottom 6 winger on what is most likely playoff team.

He took up cap space and was penciled in as a top 6 winger for 3 years longer than he should have in NJ.

Nice. That Islanders fan seems to know hockey, but he sure doesn’t know much about the The business of hockey.

  19. Imsorrymanyt

What’s the bank in this scenario

  20. GoudaGoudaGoudaGouda

We could literally bench the new guy every game for the next season and a half and still be winners in the trade lol. This trade was about clearing cap, not getting a player with potential

  21. auriemmn

Here’s the thing I think every fan should pay attention to. The consistent winning organizations don’t give a fuck about draft picks because they are essentially a gamble. You have to trade and sign sure things. Like good players on bad teams

  22. Dmbender

Probably wait until he’s playing in an Islanders sweater before peacocking

  23. CrippledGoose316

I mean maybe he will fit in and do well there. Who knows.

  24. SoothsayerSurveyor

It’s a great deal for both teams. The Devils lose Palat’s salary and get a legit young player who hasn’t played the same game since the Flyers game last season.

Tsyplakov was a wrecking ball last season, leading the team in hits up until his suspension against the Flyers and a subsequent fight on the return game. Hopefully, he can rediscover that physicality and his scoring touch.

Palat is a summer buyout. At best, he slots into the middle six and rediscovers what made him great with Tampa.

At worst, he’s a regular scratch, which is why Tsyp was anyway.

Fitz and Darche did each other favors. It’s a mutually-beneficial win for both teams

  25. AndrewManganelli

It’s so weird to go find fans of other teams that are happy about something, and insert yourself to try and bring them down.

Who cares? I’m glad the trade happened cause I think it was right for us, but it just makes our fan base look like losers going out and targeting other fans who are trying to be optimistic.
