Finally! The flames only trade players who want out, so thank you kadri. Forced Rebuild 2026

Would love to see him go to Montreal, his childhood team…Who have plenty of trade assets…

Is there a contender with decent assets?
Losing Kadri will suck.

My goat. Probably the best thing he could do for the team right now. Hope he goes and gets himself a cup
Kuuuuck
Since he’d probably go to a contender with retention, who actually has assets for us? What could Dallas give us for both Kadri and Coleman?
Nickiat
He’s been a good flame in a bad couple of years for the team, he is one of those players who it’s going to be cool knowing he was a flame for a few years
BlindMuffin
Think Colorado wants him back?

Kadri probably signed here expecting we’d stay competitive, especially off the back of what we got from Florida in the Tkachuk deal. And the big thing for me is we didn’t give up a thing to get him, he chose Calgary as a free agent.
He’s been a genuine all-in, heart-and-soul guy every night. If there’s a trade, I hope it’s a real haul, but if it ends up more in the “Andersson/Tanev-type return” range, I’m still okay with it, depending on how much salary we retain and what the market looks like.

I fuck with Kadri heavily, but this is absolutely the best decision for both himself and the team

They arnt gunna trade Coleman. The flames leadership have said him and backland need to stay for “cultural reasons” as in the legacy of the flames and the face of the flames need them through the rebuild.

We have one retention spot left so if we use that on Kadri I am 100% ok with that to get as much back as we can.

Nazem Chadri. Nothing personal buddy, you’ve scored some clutch goals here but you don’t deserve to waste away on a rebuilding team. Plenty left in the tank for a few more cup runs

Dallas? Anything that can be done to get some of their assets they might struggle to sign?

He’s said for a while he was open to this so is it now more of a demand?

Trading everyone the last few years has been sad but needed. Our core post 13/19 never had a chance to win a cup

It was too bad we never got to see him in the playoffs for the flames, but its for the better

Makes sense, with half the West in freefall tank mode, and every team in the East competing for 8 spots (and a chance to lose to those cheating-ass Lightning) now is the time to make a Kadri trade.

I have very much enjoyed watching Kadri as a Flame and will be sad to see him go. Over the past couple years he has consistently been a bright spot with lots of talent and always all-in, I never had to worry if Kadri wasn’t willing to play. Yes I know that this year hasn’t been the best for him but still fun to watch.
This decision is best for both him and the Flames. Kadri is older now and wants to go get another cup which the Flames won’t get in the next couple years so I can totally see why he would be willing to go. For the Flames it’s good because he is a player that actually still holds value and his contract isn’t brutal for the player he is with the cap continuing to grow. So that means they can actually still get value back on the trade.
