A statement win doesn't involve giving up the lead in the 3rd period.
An OT shootout W over a 2-man team and AHL goalie is nothing to brag about. It's not a 'statement win' by any means. This team still needs A LOT of work. Armia returning will really help. Kopi returning, eh…not so much. I'm really impressed with Andre Lee. And Ward also had some good plays to keep the puck alive and when entering the Oilers zone. QB still needs to go to a psychologist. He could be a great power forward if he actually had some killer instinct.
I liked our young line they felt active and more in your face. It was a nice win but they can do better.
I wouldn't call this a statement win for the following reasons:
1. Once again, the Kings gave up a late 3rd period lead
2. Wins like this give everyone false hope that the team has turned the corner and prevent s the team from confronting its deeper issues requiring a rebuild
3. Once again, Hiller makes a questionable decision by starting his #1 goalie against the worst team in the league and his #2 goalie against one of the top offensive teams in the league
4. Congrats to Luc, KH and Hiller for building a team that can play even with its main opponent, Edmonton. The only problem is that both the Kings and Oilers got worse over the off-season, while the Avs and Stars got better. We built our team to beat a team that is no longer the premier team in the league or even our Conference.

The last 2 games sums up the Kings inconsistent season! Lose to a bad Winnipeg team and then beat their nemesis the Oilers the next night! So frustrating! We just don’t know what team is going to show up from night to night!

I needed to see us win this game based on how this season has gone so far but more importantly because I bought tickets to see oilers at our home before the season started 😅. Praying they can bring a win once I attend
