Cool. Another ranking for this team to bottom out.

  2. Aegis_1984

That’s generous. The only real perk I can see is a $1.50 hotdog right outside the arena.

  3. mephnick

That’s about right, despite the fact I think the sightlines are good.

The Honda Centre got rated poorly and that arena felt like a wide open paradise compared to Rogers cramped bullshit.

I rarely leave my seat in intermission because I don’t feel like braving the fucking herd in the hallways/bar and you can’t even walk all the way around the concourse if needed

I think the writer’s ranking is more representative of where Roger’s should rank lol, fans voted it so poorly cuz everyone hates everything about this team right now. Just purely on location, anyone in the GVA can easily get to Rogers by skytrain for a $5 skytrain fare, which a lot of the low tier arenas cant say. In terms of the other criteria i defs think we’re in the lower end but I think a rank around 20 is fair.

  5. TheWorldInMotion

I’ll take a small, older downtown rink over some of these other rinks any day.

  6. Aggravating-Rush9029

The one thing it has going for it that maybe wasn’t considered is the downtown location and skytrain access. It’s otherwise pretty cramped to make the location work but I don’t know how excited I’d be for relocating it somewhere outside the downtown core.

Yeah. Obviously I love Roger’s arena for the memories and I’m biased. But after visiting other arenas ours is just lacking. I know nothing can be done about the concourse but it’s just the in game experience. I don’t know what to even call it but it’s sub par entertainment (I’m not talking about actual game play) but other teams do so many fun event nights (Star Wars, bobble heads, friends/tv show themed, book themed, gravy boats). What do we have? A free crappy scarf for the home opener that has more of the TD logo than the actual Canucks one. Our DJ is terrible too.

But we do have the best sightlines and the best goal horn. So that’s something….

  8. underdogstrack3

Terrible DJ, no escalators, cramped concorse (try to piss and buy a beer between periods, it’s tough to do buzzer to buzzer)

    Yeah that tracks

  9. Pictuyr

At least the arena is accessible and in the middle

  10. TheOtherSide999

I know people are against visiting the states right now but when things cool down, visit climate pledge arena in Seattle, it is breathe taking. Reminds me a lot like YVR, it is very calming.

  11. Malforian

Seems low like the actual arena itself is nice no? pretty much wherever you sit its nice views of the ice. Concessions may be expensive but you have a really good choice vs other places i have been

  12. watchtower5960

Outside of the location , there’s other issues . The sidelines are horrible in the upper bowel especially if someone leans forward . We know how tight the concourse gets . I was in SJ in November and it was such a relief being in the upper bowel there and not worry about the person in front leaning forward.

  13. chonklord9000

Worst team in the league and nearly the worst arena…think Francesco is getting the message yet?

  14. ProtoMan3

I went to the game in Vegas last December, and honestly I was not that impressed at all. Of the 5 NHL arenas I’ve been to (Seattle, Vancouver, Chicago, Vegas, St. Louis) I genuinely see it as either 4th or 5th. Vancouver at least has public transit in its favor compared to Vegas’s arena which is why I think it’s 5th.

I do agree that Rogers is not that impressive compared to some of the other ones.

  15. brodiefilm

The writer’s rank (17th) makes sense, Rogers is 6th oldest barn in the league if you consider MSG and Delta have had recent major facelifts. The smaller footprint makes for a cramped concourse, and Aquapricing has given us a 30 dollar pint. BUT I’ll take a downtown arena any day of the week over suburban parking lot hell and there’s not a bad seat in the house.

  16. starfish2686

It’s an arena. It holds people, and hockey games can happen there. What’s the issue?

  17. Illustrious-Dingo-79

BREAKING NEWS: Canucks fans hate everything about their team. We will do a deeper dive into why they can’t stop watching though.

  18. Ok-Turn5582

Shitty atmosphere. Lame ass « make some noise » bullshit. Always trying to generate a buzz in the arena. The buzz comes from the team on the ice.

  19. robrenfrew

Went to Las Vegas arena last year. The concourse area is huge and double height. As for the bowl, it was just the same as any other rink. I think Rogers bowl feels tighter and closer to the action.

  20. General_Zod99

I love just about everything modern, but give me shitty old Rogers Arena over these new arenas any day. If I wanted to take a leisurely stroll somewhere with hospital clean floors , massive concourse and escalators I’d wonder down to the pacific centre or YVR.

Like everything about the live sports viewing experience, it helps when the team is good. There’s nothing like moving at a snails pace after the game trying to make it outside, shoulder to shoulder with thousands of other crazy Canucks fans screaming , cheering, chanting “we want the cup” , only to make it outside where the party is going on in front of the arena and all over downtown.

  21. VancouverApe

Everything the Canucks ownership group does is 3rd class. Even the seats have taken years to replace and it’s still not done

  22. CuredBearMeat

Sidenote: I like how MSG is the only arena that didn’t whore themselves out in the name of corporate interests and advertising. Crypto.com Arena is the worst name on there.

  23. Loud_Examination_138

The Skytrain being right there makes the location better than other cities. I Never had an issue with rogers arena, main concern is the shitty owner and the questions surrounding the medical team

  24. avmp629

The accessibility via Skytrain and the surrounding amenities are nice, and the atmosphere is fantastic when the team’s doing well, but the cost is on par with like Edmonton who have a nicer arena and a better team

  25. topspinvan

Are we seriously below the Saddledome?

Our arena is fine. Perfect location, no bad seats in the house and sure the concourses are a little tight but I’d rather sacrifice that then other 2. There’s no way we’ll be building a new arena somewhere else anytime in the next 20 years.

  26. BrodyCanuck

Not defending Rodger’s Arena but I imagine a lot of the ratings were low just to spite Aquilini.

With that said, I’ve only ever been to Rodger’s arena and also Tampa Bays when it was the Ice Palace in about 1996 and I was really young, so I don’t remember it much. So I have no clue how it is compared to other arenas

  27. g0kartmozart

It’s clearly an average arena at best, but it’s honestly good enough. I don’t see any reason to build a new one for another 20-30 years.

  28. Sammy181012

Brutal concourse. Should be able to see the game from the concourse like most arenas.

  29. DjTacman

Does this mean we’ll get a top 5 pick in the concession draft? We need to get some elite sides while the Costco hot dog is still on a team friendly contract

  30. jjjjjunit

The only thing that doesn’t keep us from being 32 is the Costco hotdogs nearby

  31. MobiusOne_FoxTwo

Was at the Bell Center for the first time in 2024. It’s a really nice rink, and it’s very pedestrian friendly on the walk-up. Was a preseason game, but the vibe was awesome.
