@Penguins de Pittsburgh

Merci aux Maple Leafs de nous avoir aussi donné Kyle Dubas !!! Appréciez l’aide, tout comme lorsque vous nous avez aidé il y a des années en nous donnant le frisson à Phil !!

Love how they treated dubas like absolute shit on his way out the door and even when he left they kept shitting on him and blaming him for everything. No wonder he wanted out of that situation and was fed up.

He’s starting to work his magic.

You sure that not Corey O’Connor?

  4. Skull8Ranger

He is a God now that Jarry & Sullivan are gone

Bro mogs the fuck out of the other gms. Full head of hair, chiseled physique, and that god damn smile.

    Don’t forget Rick Kehoe!

Longtime fan of Dubas, but Toronto fans weren’t wrong to want him gone.

He was always an excellent trader with a good drafting record. His biggest issue was RFA signings, and overpaying assets for marginal upgrades to “go for it” every season (with no successes).

But Pittsburgh literally couldn’t be a better situation for him. No major RFAs to sign, no stars who disappear in big moments, a mandate to restock the cupboards, and (most importantly) all the trades his heart can make. He gets to keep upgrading, making creative deals, and finding value where no one else quite can.

I hope he gets GM of the year, he’s earned it. I also hope he has improved since his rookie GM days for when the Pens get the next wave of stars drafted.

As a Leafs fan and Pens fan cherish him for those who did like him.

I appreciate this post, but I remember how after his second year everybody wanted to feed him to the wolves!

He has made some very shrewd moves, that’s for sure. It will be interesting to see what he does at the trade deadline. I thought we would be sellers, but we’re clearly going to be buyers.

leafs are the gift that keeps giving.

Although Dubas didn’t trade Hyman to the Oilers for a draft pick and instead let him walk for nothing, but he was in Toronto so maybe that affected his brain, hes done nothing but great work for the Pens. This oiler fan approves

I had my doubts but this year he really showed he’s got it. I blame the (former) owners and their love of Sullivan and Boston for the first few years.

I still kinda can’t believe Toronto let him go they hired him at like 29/30 as a prodigal GM talent but didn’t even see it through

    1) Never underestimate how much his hands were tied by Shanahan, and later « other people »

1a) As evidenced by – GMKD saying (tangentially) « We may have to break up the core-5 (inc Morgan Reilly in this one) » then getting canned w/in 24 hours.

    2) While I’m not as big a fan of various metrics (looking at you « win-o-meter »), at some point you have to give him his props for moves that maybe didn’t pay off immediately, and some that did. (Chinakhov, Tommy « ABC Store » Novak)

    3) Ben « The Reach » Kindel.

    4) When KD took over – prospects were BLEAK. NHL team had missed the playoffs two years in a row, AHL team was nothing to write home about, draft picks were rarer than a sober frat boy after an all-night kegger.

    Then?

4a) With one fell swoop, he got us out of FOUR (4) bad contracts / fits while acquiring EK65.

    4b) Moved on from Sully

4c) Hired a guy who was considered a dark horse by the « hockey media »

    4d) See (3)

4e) Fleeced Edmonton, appears to have fleeced Columbus, restocked the draft pantry, WBS looks to be a solid minor league team.

    5) Were they all hits? No. (Cough Hayes cough). But even with Hayes, we did get a second (iinm)

    ***********************

One last note. KD isn’t doing this by himself. He’s got a team of folks (many brought over from Toronto, again iinm).

Also, and I cannot emphasize this enough – FUrh.

Since day one Dubas seemed super committed to the organization.
