I’d be lying if I said I was shocked at how many people completely turned on Gibson in the game/post game threads last night.

  2. TerranFirma

I know we didn’t get two points and that’s not ideal, but I’m just happy the team fought to take it to OT when down by 2 late.

Previous years I think we either fold or immediately give up an empty netter.

Nothing we can do about the stupid division but we are playing good hockey and sometimes you lose to competent teams anyways. The Kings and Caps both played very physical, challenging games. The Avs will too. It’s not the end of the world if we can’t get 2 points every single night.

  3. Dr_Doomblade

We may look back on this and say Cat willed us to one of the biggest points of the season.

  4. FlannelMickey

FLA lost in regulation last night and we managed to get a point. That’s huge.

  5. Razor_xL

We’ve have a 10 point lead into the playoff with most team with a few wishing 7 if they win out. This is a good lead but we can do even better. We don’t need to worry about the Montreal and Buffalo and even Boston. As long as the rest stay out we can still clinch playoffs. To me it doesn’t matter if it’s a divisional or a wild card as long as we’re in.

  6. Dizziest

Need to grab 3 points out of the next 3 games. Will be a tough task with an angry Avalanche team but I have a feeling the Wings will be ready for them. LGRW

I’m itching for Yzerman to pull off a trade like when he first brought McDonagh to Tampa. Basically any left handed top 4 D age 23-29 with term or RFA status we should be making a call about. Hard to gauge value but I’m probably willing to give up more than most (likely 2 first rounders/equivalent)

Might get bored later and put together a list of everyone who fits that criteria on teams out of a playoff spot. Already mentioned guys like Samberg, M. Anderson, Vlasic/Kaiser, but there’s more in the East i haven’t thought about like Siegenthaler if NJ wants to sell.

Friedman has us linked to the Jets. Wouldn’t say for who though. Hope it’s not Stanley personally

    1. I know the overall feeling is we need a Top 4 defenseman which I fully agree with. However, last night showed a big rugged winger that can generate scoring chances is almost as glaring.

    2. Dylan Larkin is in a slump and you can see him doing everything he can to push through it. The puck cant stay on his stick. I have the utmost confidence he will find his stride. His 200ft game is still strong no lack of effort just not getting the bounces in the O zone.

    3. Steve always talks about having the team EARN a move at the deadline. This team has done that and the coaching staff have done a great job. I really hope he makes not just move for the sake of it but can make a splash (Faulk and Roberts)

  10. GenericUsername_71

Seider played nearly 32 minutes last night. That’s like 10:40 pm beer league TOI. Stevie, get this man some help. That is wayyyyy too much

  11. jcoal19

Thought it was an uncharacteristic rough game for the Soderblom line.

  12. Jimmyskis77

After sleeping I’ve come to a shocking conclusion: 1 point is better than 0. Rough game last night, which I hope isn’t becoming the norm. Just be better on Saturday guys

  13. Benglepuck

Debrincat has 30 goals. Tied for 3rd in the league! Behind Mcdavid and MacKinnon

  14. lunchboxthegoat

Friedman reported that Dallas is really interested in Panarin but they can’t do it because they don’t want to exhaust what’s left of their assets and have to resign Robo so I, armchair lunchboxtheGM, propose

Panarin to Dallas, Robertson to Detroit, picks/prospects to both NYR and DAL.

  15. TechnoVikingGA23

Everyone saying Steve is busy, when in reality and based on his history around the deadline and in general since he got here, he’s probably just in his office playing solitaire.

/s I’m just talking shit in hopes he proves me wrong.

  16. N_Unit13

Shoutout to the Panthers for being the closest team to taking a wildcard spot and still lost in regulation to the Blues yesterday who, prior to the win, was 2nd to last in the league with a league tying worst goal differential. I normally don’t hate most teams but the Panthers can all go lick a stick of butter

  17. TheNation55

We’re back to getting those game outcomes where Steve grimaces and laughs when the room asks for help again.

  18. culturedrobot

If Alex Debrincat is one of the players who’s sick and still managed to do all of that, then he’s a god walking among men

If Alex Debrincat isn’t one of the players who’s sick, then please for the love of god quarantine him from everyone else until this bug has made its way out of the locker room.

  19. FlannelMickey

32-17-6 and 70 points through 55 games. I don’t think anybody in this fanbase predicted we would be in this spot before the season started. I don’t think anyone really predicted the Atlantic would be this tight of a race either especially with the b2b Cup champs being 11 points behind us and Buffalo finally playing like they should’ve been for a couple years. It kind of sucks that playoffs is the expectation for this team while the division is the way it is right now. But that’s just the reality of it. It would be so disheartening to end this season with more points than we’ve had in 10+ years and still miss the playoffs and have people saying how much of a failure this season was when playoffs would be a lock if we were in any other division.

How we respond after the Olympic break is going to be crucial. I have high hopes though.

  20. FlynnLive5

I quit smoking/vaping 3 weeks ago and I gotta say, it was pretty easy lol. Like I got over the 2/3 day hump and I can safely say that Ill never smoke again

  21. tacticalAlmonds

Imma need a statement game from Larkin tomorrow.

  22. steely_bran

I have one tiny request, and it might be a little impractical, but I want every other team in our division to never win a single game again

  23. Wingnut17

Per Friedman possible Detroit Winnipeg trade incoming??? Kyle Connor please

  24. cutyourhair

Logan Stanley is big and not very good, so he fits the profile of defensemen that Yzerman loves to sign. Just hope it’s not for a 1st round pick or one of the top prospects in our system, if it happens.

If it’s for a 2nd, a 3rd and Wallinder or Kiiskinnen or something like that, fine, who cares.

Edit: Stanley also has local ties to a Red Wings adjacent area, being from Waterloo and playing in Kitchener. Detroit loves getting guys like that.

  25. PremierBromanov

30 big ones for debrincat, seems determined for at least 40

  26. detroitttiorted

I thought Schaefers comments on the Rangers fans were kinda fun. He’s made a few jokes like that now. Wouldn’t mind if one of our younger guys developed that kinda persona

  27. RWHockey13

It is time or is it not time to see if the Red Wings can make an addition? I mean does Yzerman believe it should be this season? I do not know. Perhaps he does not think they are a strong enough contender to justify giving up assets and picks.

And then there is the larger question. Can they Wings get someone like Robert Thomas? Or is it better to see if Elias Pettersson is easier and they will not have to forfeit that much. I am guessing his contract would be a sticking point. Yet if the Canucks do not want to retain salary, then perhaps a team does not have to forfeit many assets. However, it seems Pettersson wants to stay in Vancouver. I know the Kraken are looking to move Shane Wright and the Rangers perhaps Alexis Lafreniere. Not sure if there is a opportunity for the Wings with either one. Finally, Vincent Trochek. But does that make sense right now?

To me, our higher untouchables are:

    1) MBN

    2) Trey Augustine.

  28. jcoal19

Fun new milestone look ahead(aside from 700 points for JVR. Just 17 points for Kane to pass Hull and we don’t need the weird « US born » modifier, we can just say American. Possible to get there this year but next year seems more likely.

  29. Alpine_Exchange_36

Kinda thinking I need to troll the Denver sub and ask where can I buy octopus

  30. ChildishTheGOAT

Anyone have any poor experiences with the ushers in any of the sections at LCA? Had one on a power trip last night…

I’ve been to the LCA countless times at this point and it was my first rough experience.
