Remember when this sub was convinced Ray Bennett was the problem despite our power play being a top 10 unit for the last 3 seasons? That was fun. Gotta snap out of this funk quickly before winning the central becomes a fight

i’m really getting tired of losing, feels like they are falling into bad habits and i’m not sure they can fix it at this point

It’s all worth it if we hammer the wings tomorrow

Even Johnny was digging into the power play between periods with kiefer. He’s not stoked.
I just don’t understand how Bednar can be content with Hakstols PP doing the same shit every single game with predictable results. Be the head coach and lay your foot down and change it up. Or do they not have control of the room anymore like wtf.
We try the exact same thing every single PP expecting different results it’s infuriating.
Bennet wasn’t the problem, clearly. So, what/who is?

Wedgie with -4.47 GSAE. I knew it would be bad, but yeowch.

Tale of the back to back. Blackie played fine enough to win if the team in front of him was getting shots, which it wasn’t until then 3rd. Meanwhile, Wedgewood absolutely sold and the team had no chance to win no matter how they played in front of him. And thus we lose the back to back in two completely different ways.
Best time of the year for this to happen, as the team will get a reset before the stretch run.
It’s hard not to infer that the fellas, 8-9 of whom are Olympians, are coasting on the cushion they built in the early part of the year to stay healthy for the Olympics. Sucks for us. There will likely be no record breaking regular season, and the fellas will now have more games at the end of the season that mean something. That’s the only thing that can explain Mack and Necas being dead last in game score among forwards on back to back nights.

It’s one thing for the PP to not be producing but it’s another thing for it to be giving up shorties on a regular basis. It is costing the Avs in more way than one and their flat out refusal to change anything up is infuriating.

Reposting from the PGT, reality checking.
Just a reminder, Dallas lost the last 7 games of the season before going on to the WCF. We haven’t seen a stretch that bad.
Not happy, but it’s not time to blow it up.
PP is fucking embarrassing, but the most embarrassing thing is passing the puck 2 feet directly into defenders sticks. What the hell is that? Also, teams are jumping to the mid-blue line on our point-to-point passes way too well and getting breakaway chances — so they really need to stop telegraphing that so badly.

Wasn’t able to bring myself to finish watching last night for the first time in a LONG time. I’m not in the headspace to be miserable about life AND about hockey. Hoping they’re just coasting til the Olympics and it’ll be back to regularly scheduled programming afterwards

I’m commenting this because I’m open to being corrected.
Normally, Hakstol/Bennet are in charge of PP. But since Hakstol has been here, I’ve seen it said (and also think) that there is a lot of player influence over the PP.
So, what, we fire Hakstol and get another assistant coach. Then what? The PP is worse than last year. Coaching wasn’t the problem, apparently.
I’m not saying keep Hakstol at all. But if the PP issue is player-related it’s gotta get managed
Am I missing something?

Did Bednar do a press conference after the game? If so, anyone know where I can find it? I might be blind as they usually come up on my YouTube feed. :/

What confuses me about the PP is that early in the season, while the numbers weren’t exactly satisfactory, it was clear they were trying new things and despite a paucity of goals each powerplay was still generating a nearly consistent two minutes of sustained possession and high-danger chances. It was passing the eye test quite well.
What changed? This regression precedes Landy’s injury by quite some time.
