Pronger is the only Flyers alumni blunt enough to remind us that rebuilding is supposed to fucking suck.
I really liked his point saying that losing should be a learning experience. You lose to learn. If you’re not learning from your losing, then what are you doing? The flyers are hopeless
I’ve said this several times before, I don’t wanna see the Flyers pull a 18-19 Blue Jackets where they sell off all their picks for an all in push. The Blue Jackets made it back in 19-20 to playoffs but haven’t recovered given the lack of picks and the fact the players they traded for are all gone. We’re also 8 points back of a wildcard and 10 of 3rd in the conference.
Best case for the Flyers would be to trade off any value they can get from some players on expiring deals and hope they can luck into the lottery. Currently we’re 11th in the lottery odds, so if we go off where we are now, here is how everything plays out.
Out of 30 spins here are the results:
Moved down: 4 (4: 12th)
Moved Up: 4 (4: 2nd)
Stayed Same: 22
We need to move up in the lottery if we want a shot is what I’m trying to say.
I don’t want an Alex Lyon or a stopgap goalie, I want pick or younger players, heck I wouldn’t mind taking a flyer on Shane Wright to see if a new change of scenery can help.
Prongers injury was the point where Flyers timeline diverged. In some other parallel universe he stayed healthy and we won 5 cups in a row.
