Winning tonight doesn’t help. Although you can’t lose EVERY game. And the Predators won so we didn’t get any further ahead of them.
Treliving needs to sell at the deadline and yes, hopefully you retain your pick.
Id rather give Boston a 16th pick versus a 6.
Doesn’t it just push things back another year? The draft is a crapshoot every year. Sure things are never sure things.
I say trade Carlo back to Boston in exchange for changing the conditions on the pick from top 5 to top 10 protected.
I think they should try to right the ship before the deadline but if it’s still looking bad then, activate the tank
I hope to god it’s true. I’d much prefer they commit to a rebuild now rather than perpetually try to « re-tool » for another decade of mediocrity. It’s much more fun to watch an exciting team of fresh-faced prospects just losing because they’re green and rebuilding than it is to watch a team actually try to win and just disappoint year after year.
I do not care. Tre will either waste the pick or not have a pick to waste
I’m okay if they trade for a first rounder in this draft. Even if this is supposedly a strong draft, I don’t want this coughing up first rounders trend to continue so if they could just get over that this year and start a new trend moving forward then I like that better.
Tre really put em in such a horrendous position. I don’t even know if Laughton and Carlo were worth a 2nd, let alone a 1st AND a prospect. Just beyond fucking abysmal asset management. Even if you’re going to do that, they should’ve just went all in and sent Knies for Rantanen and just went for it last year. Not sure if that would’ve been enough to beat Edmonton, but we would’ve beaten Florida.
Tre needs to be fired for:
1.Not trading Marner before his nmc kicked in
2.The horrendous fleeces of us in both Lauhgton and Carlo trades
3.IF you are going to go all in, just go all the way and trade Knies as well
His ideology is schizophrenic, on one hand we take our last chances with Mitch and acquiring depth at any cost, on the other hand we can’t mortgage the future (Knies) for Rantanen even thought it was clearly an upgrade at that time??
Anyways, personally in an ideal world I’d try and get both of our firsts back for Matthews and Nylander. That won’t happen, so I’d just eat shit on the year and accept whatever pick Boston gets and then try and trade either Matthews or Nylander next year for the Philly first (at least). This core is not it and I’m ready to move and start a new era:
New coach/new GM/new everyone except our young guys in Woll/Cowan/Hildeby and Knies, everyone else can go, but it’s the Leafs so I suspect the next 3-5 years will be wasted wandering the wilderness accomplishing fuck all with maybe (if all goes well) a 1st round ass whooping or two. Man it sucks being a Leafs fan.
I would (asap) trade everything possible for a few pieces blocked in other organizations that are nhl ready and can move. Then with the shedding and acquisition process done, I’d roll out a run and gun lineup trying to win because the jays will be the spring focus and the pick isn’t ours.
