i agree this was the most different outdoor game which was a much needed thing in general
Buffalo would have to be in the bottom 5 teams Pettersson would ever consider.
The only way the Canucks could get that return from the Wings is if they retain 35% or more on that awful contract. He's a 2C on a decent team, wins 45% of his draws, and hasn't scored or skated the same since he hurt his knee.
Unlikely Pettersson is a Guerin type player. Nowhere near enough 'eff you' to his game for Billy.
I dumped the canucks over Pee Wee 40. send him anywhere but Wild. push him over and he goes on LTIR. send him to the AHL

I was thinking the Red Wings should acquire Justin Faulk from the Blues for their playoff run, or the Sabres–Faulk is having a good offensive season for an offensively anemic Blues team.

Yzerman is only interested in players that are in a similar time-line as Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond, unless they're place holders. I don't see Kadri or Weegar as options for Yzerman.
Wallstedt to Canucks for just Petterson would be a terrible trade
Elias Pettersson to the Buffalo Sabres for prospects and a 1st round pick.
EP to the Canes for a 1st round pick and top prospects, 1d, 1 forward???? I could see either team making the deal.
EP to the Penguins for Rutger McGroarty, Ville Koivunen, this years 1st round pick, and a 2nd.
Remember EP is good: 39 goals and 102 points. The man needs a change of team.
